i think the les thing still lingers for a lot. so many years of watching the team be so flat mentally in games.
exactly this. I think this is why I was nervous for BYU.. I couldn't watch the Chattanooga game... but somewhere had a sick feeling we were down 10-7 or barley winning at the half until I was able to check the score.
I really do feel like I can't imagine this team being mentally prepared to overpower an inferior team.

The last 2 years have been tighter than - well, something that is very, very tight, and we'll just leave it at that.

Solid defense, very good OC in Mullen, Fitz is talented.
Should be close.

Is this what Les Miles has done to us? Seriously?
Because Orgeron has never had his team come out flat and lose to a much less talented team. We have nothing to wo........Wait a second.....

Far too many threads about this
Where are these threads where everyone is worried about state? Find two or more people on here that are LSU fans that are predicting LSU loses.

This is a road game. The first SEC road game for all of our 18 year old starters. Yes we have a ton of talent, but penalties have resulted in playing so much youth. Have we worked out all the bugs? Not last week. This team we are playing is well coached and does match up well against our offense. This will not be a cake walk. Tough match up on the road. Naw, nothing to worry about.

1. They have a good mobile quarterback.
2. It's an SEC road game
3. Hostile environment with a jacked up crowd and a lot of noise.
Do I think we'll win - yes, but it will be a tight game. Just because we've owned them in the recent past doesn't mean this is a cakewalk.

Stat's wise they match up with us well.
What stat's? The stat's against cupcakes? Those stat's have
many state fans thinking they really have the #1 defense in the nation, geez.
The stat's they have and we have so far this year mean nothing to this game.

A loss to MSU would pretty much ruin the season before it even really started. I really don't think it's going to happen but that would be a serious kick in the nuts and put us in a hole from the get go. As far as I'm concerned this is a critical must win game.

Most teams that I can recall have mental letdown games. That's usually before or after a tough game. I can't think of any reason this team should come out flat this week.
MSU is an inferior team but not so much that LSU can win coming out flat.

I get what you are saying, but this year they all are must win games for Coach O and this team. Everyone would/will go crazy if/when LSU drops a game, won't matter who or how either.

I have no doubt the team will improve in all of these areas. The issue is that MSU will be playing us at a time when we aren't yet firing on all cylinders and the potential for them to catch us at the right time is there.
Do you think State will be firing on all cylinders? Likely no. Therefore superior talent should win.

Because they are an SEC team and anything can happen. League play is what actually counts, and this will be our first test to see where we actually are in the league.

Les Miles happened. He lost focus and refused to change.
I know that you are relatively new to this board and I understand that you are desperately seeking "board cred", but if you had the brains of a rock you would know that Les Miles pretty much dominated MSU. His record against some other teams might be spotty but against MSU it is pretty damn solid.
Roast him (if you really must), but for his failings not his successes.
