well, I will say this about that, a good coach tells a RB make sure the ball is tucked away and just get the first down! He doesn't say it after the fact like Miles told the news people!

you shouldn't have to tell a Junior RB at LSU "Hey...don't fumble the ball and try to get the first down."

Me too, but he ran it 19 times... our true RB's only had 21 carries in the game and he had 19. That is my point, and then he fumbled, to make it even worse.

Look at it this way and you will feel better. He carried 19 times with 2 fumbles. His percentage was better than Murphy's.

First of all kid has proven a fumbler so far
When has he been proven a fumbler before this game?

No doubt in my mind Saban would've benched him
Guess what idiot, Saban does not coach for LSU. We didn't fire him he left here, he didn't want to be here anymore. So get over it he isn't here anymore, so it doesn't matter what he would do.

After the game, he was quoted saying 'I didn't have the best game," which I also disliked, he's a leader on this team and he needs to step into the role. Other players need to see him own up to his big mistakes.

You are a fricking tard.

"I let my team down," said Ridley, who can't ever remember fumbling twice in a game, even in high school. "As a back, my only focus is to prepare to make the right cut, make the right reads and make the proper blitz protection. But, you have to have ball security.

"You can't get caught up with rushing yards. I messed up everything with the two fumbles. I was okay hitting the right cuts. I was okay with my blitz pickups. The whole thing is ball security. I took two steps backward with that performance. I'm supposed to be a leader. A leader doesn't lead like that."

he wasn't the only player to frick up in the first game

I did see one very nice run out of him that was called back... so I think there are at least flashes of excellence that justify some patience

Obviously if he continues to fumble he will find the bench... that's the same story for him as every other guy who handles the football tho

Exactly. If the kid continues to fumble, and he is a proven fumbler like some say, then his carries will dwindle, and all of the Ford dick riders will be happy.

People get on here bitching about fumbles when most of these people are just using it as a scapegoat to hate on Ridley. If the shoe was on the other foot and Ford had the game that Ridley had, most here would be apologizing the fumbles away.

see that's the problem with most of you clowns, you don't take it seriously, I honestly don't think he told him a damn thing, he just left it in his hands of his OC to run a play, when a good coach like I said earlier would be in his RB's ear tellin him before he runs on the field "hey, make sure your ball security is tight"

did Miles tell Jefferson anything in the Ole Miss debacle last year? huh? I guess you'll say-YES, his interview afterwards said it all, clueless!

and as for whoever said he shouldn't have to tell him because he is a Junior guess what he's still a frickin kid, there are NFL players in the league that coaches have to tell it to them late in the game to make sure you wrap it up because they will try for the Strip! but some of you guys are just as amazin as Miles!

First, Stevan has to hold onto the ball. He knows it and I dont think it will be a problem again. That aside, he ran the ball like a beast. He pounded for first downs and showed unbelievable cutting and acceleration for a 230lb back. His touchdown run called back is one of LSU's best runs over the last couple years.

For his size he has incredible talent. LSU fans will be glad they have him. One of the most talented backs in the SEC. A team player and hard worker. He leaves his heart on the field every time he plays. That kind of commitment deserves and demands respect imo.

This. Having been lucky enough to meet and talk with him, prior to his surgery and rehab he is very humble and team focused, and even then, barely out of HS, a pretty impressive physical specimen.

So, let me see if I have this straight. I have been reading post after post for the past couple of years with people bitching that Les wouldn't let a back get enough carries to develop a rhythm, a feel for the game, and complaining that he was an idiot for taking out a hot back. So Miles give Ridley 19 touches, when he is running very effectively, hitting holes like no one in P&G has in awhile, and now, here is a multipage post bitching about him getting too many carries?

WOW.

It is this kind of crap, tearing down this young man who has worked his arse off coming back from a serious injury and was carrying the ball so effectively, that makes me want to

I think you are reading into the thread entirely wrong, I for one know Ridley is a stud, but when you have 4, 5 star RB's on the sideline that could be spellin the guy for a break and you do not not use them, there is no excuse for that, that's just stupid, I'm sorry!

and these kids could be pickin up valuable game experience for later on in the season!

This was a big game for LSU as openers go. Miles went with his best for this game. Really a must win against a very good team.

These guys will get carries, maybe this week but definatly against the "Tulanes" on the schedule. Thats were Stevan and Murphy got their carries the last couple of years. JMO

bomber that is cool and everything, I respect your opinion, but you also want those kids to know what a big game feels like, you know what I mean, that's awesome experience!

later on, if let's say- god forbid Ridley gets hurt, Ford and Ware could be carrying the load against the Bama's and UF's!
