PM loves his mid-major quality pitching.

Get ready for another McCune type brainfart in postseason.

Pulmonary just had a few bad coughs yesterday guys--

Now get over it and just hope Pulmonary takes a deep breath, recovers and lets his pitching coach Dunn be a better judge of which pitcher has good stuff--

Now pardon me while I send Pulmonary a jar of Vicks Vapor Rub and nasal strips so he can breathe mo' oxygen for the Regionals

I don't think this was an experiment.

Agree

And McCune shouldn't have touched the field in that situation

He certainly wasn't one of our more reliable guys like you claimed.

Disagree. Like it or not, McCune was one of the first guys out of the bullpen last year. He was up and down. But, he was heavily relied on. Comparing it to throwing Bouman this year is absurd.

Before the 2 games against Houston, McCune had made 28 appearances, pitched 33 innings, and had an ERA of 3.00.

Reading comprehension is your friend. I know McCune finished with an ERA of 3.86. I subtracted his two outings in the Houston series to show that GOING INTO the regional, his ERA was 3.00

And yes his SEC ERA was over 6, but as I mentioned, he got 1 win and 3 saves, so his outings were not all bad and he contributed to 4 wins.

on what planet are SEC regular season titles worthless?

What does LSU accomplish by winning it?

A national seed is all that matters.

Thanks, I didn't know that.

Bouman doesn't need to pitch in any game going forward except UNO or if we're up by 5+ runs against any other opponent.

Who said he was all bad?

He was inconsistent which made him unreliable. He blew some games for us and shouldn't have been put in that situation.

Your reaction to my original post was ridiculous.

Fairly certain Bouman pitched his last game in an LSU uniform.

If you're a sub-500 or bubble team, yes, no doubt.

But if you are a natty seed lock like LSU is right now, then none of them really matter that much.

Winning the SEC Regular Season Title is a great accomplishment. I will never turn my nose up at that. To be the best over a 10 week, 30 game schedule is quite the accomplishment. Sure, in the big picture, I'd rather win a national title than a conference title, but Paul Mainieri's track record over the last few years tells me I better celebrate before the true postseason starts.

Obviously.

My point is that McCune was heavily relied on...while Bouman has not been.

To compare the two situations is ridiculous.

Bain had been awful in his last two starts, so Mainieri wanted to pull him from the starting spot as motivation and to send a message. So if he's not starting Bain, who do you think he should have started instead?

I have no problem with him starting Bouman. It was senior day, Bouman had been looking better in practice, he was motivated to go out there and play against guys from his home state, and it was a good opportunity to put him out there on a short leash to see if he could maybe be someone we could count on in a jam in the postseason. He crashed and burned, but Mainieri yanked him as soon as he could and sent Bain out there who ended up having his best outing since his relief appearance against Alabama over a month ago.

Aweful?

Bain's WHIP, K/BB ratio, and OBA are all better than Lange's and Poche's!

Aweful???

Yes, his last two starts were awful. The whole team looked sloppy on Sunday vs Texas A&M, so that one is not solely his fault, but it was clear with Mississippi State start that he was regressing.

He gave up 2 runs in 2 innings vs. Miss State. Poche gave up 2 runs in the first inning the same weekend! Lange has had shakier starts.

I swear some of you retards don't watch. Or do and don't understand what you're seeing. Or play revisionist history to defend a decision.

It was a bad call starting Bouman. Hindsight or no. Plain and simple. People are making excuses and none of them are any good. It's not any more complicated than that.
