Given the fact that Crowton reeled in the playbook and we only ran 48 plays of offense, JJ played pretty well. An "A" for effort and a "B+" for performance.

I'm not pleased that we have to depend on an almost redshirt freshman to lead this team. However, he is giving everything that he has and I will cheer for him as long as he is playing for LSU. If he doesn't learn to slide and duck he won't make it to mid season and then the "dreaded" Lee will be our quarterback again.

I thought JJ played well last night, and I look forward to a great season with him under center. He showed poise in the way he threw the ball away rather than take a sack, and also grit in his willingness to take a lick (even though he does need to get down). Remember he is still learning.

that 3rd TD pass was awsome he eluded the rush and turned around to hit BL for the TD. The was great decision making

Exactly. I kept telling my friends that Crowton needs to take the diapers off and let him play. They tried to baby him against Arkansas and they cut him loose against GA Tech. They babied him again last night. He's fine. I'm worried about both sides of the Line. That's where we got beat.

Jefferson has a lot of work to do, but did fairly well. He has to go thru his progression. Tends to look at one reciever and then take off.

Has skill, just needs much more experience.

I was gratified by his play; I was glad for his leadership. But "impressed" is a word I will hold onto and save for another day. I do worry about JJ taking so much of the running duties on himself; as the season progresses that could take a toll on this guy. He is, after all, just 19 and some of the ones he's going to be tackled by are a bit more seasoned (and lots bigger). I hope LSU's OL progresses quick and can open more paths for our regular RBs to start getting even more productive.

Back to "impressed," I was impressed by the level of play by Washington's QB on many 3rd downs.

That was Lockers "career game." Probably will never play that well again.

I was very pleased with his running and decision making, but his passing is still a concern. Why are Miles and Crowton afraid to let him throw it?

I haven't seen anyone mention his audibles yet. Did no one else notice that every time he changed the play based on defensive coverage it resulted in a gain of 8-15 yards? Give the kid some credit.

3 TD 0 Int to start the year. hell yeah I'm impressed. What's his career stats now? 7 TD 1 INT. 19 years old. Wait ill he gets that poise about him. He will be one of our all time greats. Trust me. I'm always right.

Yeah, I'm impressed. For barely being a 19 year old, this kid has cajones, is a competitor and an athlete. He has skills - running and throwing. He makes good decisions when throwing and throwing it away. He hardly if ever, throws the ball to the wrong team or fumbles it and he just has a head for the game. He's someone the players can fully get behind and know that he gives as much if not more than every other player on every down. Those that doubt this kid's heart, have no heart. Watching him versus Lee is hard to even explain. He's way ahead. Will he have a tough time this year against our better opponents? Quite possibly with an o-line that looked like crap last night. But he won't be giving up or in any time soon and that's why I like our chances with JJ. Forget Tebow's drive; this kid has just as much. He may not be the showboat personality of Tebow but I guarantee he has the same burning drive to be the best. I'm excited about his continued improvement and I believe it only gets better from here!! Geaux JJ!!

imo he did everything he was asked to do ... if he didn't do enough for some folks, they should blame the coaching.

I thought JJ did well yesterday. As did Pryor.

This is hilarious to me. Jefferson played well for making his third start. All the morons saying he was handcuffed have no idea what they are talking about. He was giving the amount of the playbook he could handle. AND, he couldn't even get the protections correct sometimes. You had seniors getting extremely pissed of at him, (Ciron Black, Keiland Williams) for fricking up the calls. Any you guys want him to be given more? Sheesh. He played well, but this is not going to be our year unless his learning curve is drastically changed. It's not his fault, he's a young quarterback, and has played well under the circumstances.

Yeah I agree, winging the ball out of bounds and out of reach is the smart play. Beats the hell out of forcing the ball into double coverage and getting an int or pick six.

I remember matt Flynn's first game as a starter-rain soaked night against MSU, no fumbles no int's. LSU won 45-0 and people complained about the "Vanilla offense" of Gary Crowton (his first year). By this time dwayne bowe was in KC, Buster davis was in SD, Jamarcus was negotiating w/Al Davis and Jimbo was at FSU.

Hang in there folks this is going to get intersting

Jefferson played well enough. He'll get better and better as he adjusts to the speed of the game. Saturday night he looked a little over-excited at the beginning and that's just natural for someone of his age/experience. I'm just a little disappointed that the offensive line didn't protect better, and didn't open holes for the running game.
