Yeah, nothing except read the defense, call for an audible, and execute the new play.

its very unlikely that a receiver that just caught at TD would bitch about it being a poor pass.

I just rewatched it. After the TD;

1) Lafell doesnt even want to get up, he just sits there. TT has to literally pick him up
2) JJ runs down to celebrate with him, but Lafell just walks toward him yelling
3) Lafell walks right past JJ, still talking. JJ has a WTF, look on his face
4) Lafell then jumps to chest bump Richard Dickson, further up the field
5) The camera follows Lafell to the sideline and he just shakes his head from side to side
6) Miles grabs Lafell to talk, and Lafell looks unhappy
7) Reverse angle shows Lafell wide open, but barely making the catch on a low throw

I noticed that as well. I would hate to think he was jealous of tolliver having a big night. Hopefully that attitude doesn't pressure jj into forcing the ball to lafell as lee did last year.

yep, always about race for some of ya'll isnt it. I havent seen anyone after this game saying anything about flynn or mauck being better than JJ. but, those that want to play the race card will always find a way to play it i guess.

Jefferson started 1 of 5 and finished 11 of 19. That means he completed his completed 10 out of his last 14 passes! Good stuff.

P.S. OH58 you are an idiot.

I am sure he is the best we have. I think getting excited about his physical attributes, and not realizing that we had, BY FAR, the second best QB in that game is truly irrational. If the best thing he can do is run the option, which won't last long sice I haven't seen too many 6-5 running backs last very long, we better prep someone else to play the position.

I thought he did pretty good.

Was I the only one that thought "oh shite" when he went out and Lee came in? How about Lee's pass to Holliday? What a perfect throw!

You've got a USC fan here dissing Jefferson, and a poster who named himself after one of the most disappointing and damaging-to-LSU athletes in the history of the school, who paints himself as a UNO fan.

To you two, I say

and go on your own damn message boards an sow dissent.

3 TD, O INT.

LSU Win.

Jefferson was running for his life due to our OL not giving great protection. If not for his heady play UW would have had sacks and had Lee been in the game, numerous INTs.

A win is a win. No picks is a HUGE improvement from last year.

Jefferson shows fire, leadership, and poise when under pressure.

Show me any other QB on our roster who has played in a game that does the same. There aren't any (of course for those less well endowed in the reading comprehension category -- note that I wrote "who has played in a game").

I am pleased that Jefferson played within himself and didn't try to win the game all by himself. It's too early to don him the next great of all time, if for no other reason than he hasn't had time to really prove himself just yet, but the guy's got talent, I think that's clear. The only real concern I had the other night was over his wreckless abandonment when it came to running the ball. While I admire his toughness, he is our QB, and we can ill afford for him to get hurt right now this early in the season, or even later. I think if I have any real criticism of him at this point it would be that he needs to perhaps put a little more on his backs in those option plays and take a little more attention to his own health. Other than that, I thought he did a pretty good job, and am still very hopeful in his abilities and other intangibles he brings.

I am pleased. He was given a very conservative game plan and executed it, while protecting the ball.

It seems to me that they are trying to get this kid some confidence... a lesson that should be learned from what happened last year.

My guess is that Les and Co. knew we could win this game by playing very conservatively and by not making stupid mistakes--while at the same time letting JJ get his legs under him.

Next week they will open it up a little more... incremental progression, so they'll be ready for the big games.

I'm more worried about the defense than JJ; he's the guy we need. Good manager, good decision maker (so far).

I was impressed by the way JJ kept his composure early in the game, despite being down 7 points in the first game of the season against an inferior oponent. Last year JL seemed to have this "deer in the headlights" look on his face and seemed to be easily rattled.

I was dissappointed in the play of the O-line. It seems they can't open holes for what should be an excellent pool of running backs.
