My first game was against ole piss. The geaux to hell ole piss chant that erupted through the stadium made me fall in love with LSU.
That being said, I HATE Alabama. I hate their bama clothes. I hate their bama coach. I hate their bama attitude.. I hate lynard skynard cause of his bama song. If you base rivalries on hatred, the winner is bama hands down.

This. A rivalry game is a game you hate to lose for reasons other than the conference standings or the polls. It's not "Alabama for the moment." You just don't want to lose to those guys because they are those guys. The true LSU rivals are Ole Miss and Alabama. To lose to either one sticks in your craw no matter the circumstance. And it sticks in their craw, too, when they lose. Marketing people want to create rivalries by putting the game the last of the season or making a 300 lb boot trophy. That's not what it's about.

We dont have a rival. Every team hates us and our fanbase. I like it that way. Makes it sweeter when we win the sec and rub it in every sec fans face that have been saying LSU will slide back to mediocrity for years now.

Bama.

Rivalries tend to shape seasons. Winner wins the SECW. So Bama.

If you base rivalries on hatred of whom your competing against, the winner is the sec. LSU has had to find a way to compete against a stacked deck. I've hated losing to Alabama and Auburn, but that hatred was multiplied many times over when sec officials blew the calls. It not only increased the rivalries but also my insanity. I not only wanted my Tigers to bury Alabama and Auburn six feet under the next time but also plant the sec referees along side them.

I agree. Rivalries are a little cyclical. Obviously if a team is down(Alabama/Tenn) then it takes a little glammer out of it. Although traditionally LSU and Ole Miss always at each other pretty close. The LSU Bama rivalry has really taken off with Saban's return to Bama. It doesn't help that each time LSU and Bama meet, it's to see who will play for the NC.

That being said. I hate Bama and Ole Miss. So they can both go to hell.

I like the tradition of rivalry with Ole Miss, Tulane & aTm, but as CLM put it, our new top rival is effing Alabama.

It appears to me that someone is trying to cultivate a rivalry with ATM. Scheduling them for the last game of the year on Thanksgiving Day is no accident. ATM fans NEED a rival for some reason. I believe it defines them somehow. So they are looking for a rival to replace UT and I hope LSU doesn't become their new UT. They're sick people. They remind me of that weird girl you dated a few times, but in the end there's no chemistry to keep you coming back. But she can't let it go and starts telling everyone that there was more to the relationship than there really was. You get the drift. Next thing you know, other people start believing her. If you live in Texas and have been around A&M fans you will get what I mean.

Bama

than

Ole Piss

In reality ole miss is our historic rival but they currently suck in all sports. LSU vs Bama is practically the game of the year every year and usually determines who is going to win the west and more likely who will be playing for the title. LSU and Bama hate eachother, its not both schools biggest rivals historically but def the biggest rival matchup (national championship wise) every year.

There's a certain cultural difference fueling our rivalries against Ole Miss and Alabama. It goes back to Protestant/Catholic, and it is way more than the football conference standings. I've lived in all three states and can tell you Louisiana is different from the other two states in things such as religion, attitude toward sex and alcohol, and politics. It was that way back in the Civil War. The Louisiana Tiger brigade in General Lee's army was famous for their carousing, whiskey drinking, fighting among themselves, and humor. Men from the other states could only look and wonder. But the Tigers were terrifying in battle and provoked a certain awe; by themselves they ruptured the Yankee line on the evening of the 2nd day at Gettysburg.

It is that way now--witness all the statements from others as to how we are as fans. A city like New Orleans could never exist in Mississippi or Alabama. Some of those people like to carouse and drink and womanize, but they feel a guilt about it that we don't. There is an awe they have of us. They deride us as undisciplined, but underneath their talk is a fear we have earned.
