I think he's our best interior lineman since Glenn Dorsey. It will be interesting to see how he does playing 4 technique DT/DE in the 3-4.

Key will be talked about as the best. He's going to generate a lot of pressure.

Toliver, Adams, and White will clean up on that pressure. I think Toliver is the best of that group though.

I'm also confident that (Devin) White will be touted in "Freshman of the year" discussions.

I think Adams is the clear cut. But Toliver will be good too because we'll never hear his name all season. He'll be shutting up the WR on his side.

I think Key will be the most fun to watch though. I'm excited to see him attacking the edge with reckless abandon, causing QBs to question just how good their own O-Line is.

Assuming Aranda is going to play much more man coverage, Toliver is going to be right there at the top of the list.

Others will be:

Adams
Key
Beckwith
Godchaux

2011 and 2016 combined, starters IMO (4-3)

DE: Montgomery
DT: Brockers
DT: Logan/Godchaux?
DE: Key

OLB: baker
MLB: Beckwith (16) over minter (11 not 12)
OLB: Riley

CB: Matheiu
FS: Reid
SS: Adams
CB: Claiborne

Nickel: T white > Simon, comes in on outside Matheiu slides inside

I know everyone loves Godchaux, I'm not convinced he is better than Logan was in 11 yet though. Logan has been starting in Philli for the last 4 years
I think key will be better than Mingo this season

Overall this 16 team has talent. You are missing the tyrann playmaking presence, and that dominant interior Dlineman in Brockers (Godchaux is a diff kind of DT).
If Valentine actually plays and has a great year I think the 16 D can be elite, but idk about 2011 good. Just my honest opinion

There's so much talent it's hard to say. Somethinf is telling me KT2 is going to blanket his side of the field this year.

This was off the top of my head, didn't look at a depth chart. Didn't Francois and Baker start outside in 2011?

And on key it's just a gut feeling. He didn't look faster necessarily than Mingo, just think he looked like the better player overall. I'm also projecting some growth in his game between fresh and soph, while Mingo was a 3rd year guy in 11.
Very similar players though

Beckwith is the anchor and probably the best but perception could be someone else.

Yeah but to me that doesnt matter. A player's contribution doesnt take away his talent. We know how talented he was because he had 195 tackles in 2012&13. But yeah if you just want to use production of 2011 then yeah riley over barrow.

Agreed. True freshmen Key is better than True Freshman mingo.

If at the end of the year Godchaux is our defensive mvp then our defense will be very elite. We already have 2 edge rushers in Neal and Key.

If that were the case on barrow I would put D white in there somewhere.
I just feel if Francois played most of 11 and Riley will be playing a lot this season that's what we are comparing.

Key probably will be known as the best player on D and get a lot of attention and post season accolades. I think he has a huge season for us and becomes a dominant edge player.

But the most important players, IMO, are Godchaux, Beckwith, Tre White, and Jamal Adams.

How? D white hasnt proven anything.
We know barrow was a very productive sec lb that made it to the nfl.

Im counting talent that was produtive at some point in their lsu career.
DWhite has done nothing at lsu. Picking DWhite would be base soley of potential while my pick of Barrow was because we actually know how talented he really was at lsu.

I too believe DWhite can be an all sec lb but you cant say he an nfl talent just yet while we know Barrow is.

I think you will see arden make a lot of plays similar to what jarvis Jones did with the bulldogs some seasons ago. He will get moved around and be a force and will cause havoc, but
Our best defensive player this year will be Beckwith

That's bc we are looking at the 2011 roster 5 years later lol. I had Riley (16) over Francois (11). Barrow hadn't done anything yet just like white

All I was saying is if we use future production and were looking at both of these rosters in 2021 white would probably have to be on the field (in response to barrow having 195 tacked in 12/13)

All good I think we are on the same page
