Godcheaux best player, but not sure how he'll be affected by the new 3-4. Key, Adams, and Neal may have the more sexy stats. And I think with added pressure, one of our corners is likely going to have a substantial number of picks

2011 was certainly a great defense, but the 2003 defence; albeit with a more consistent offence, was a sideline to sideline fence that got better each game

2011 Defense
11.2 ppg
2003 Defense
11.3 ppg

People forget how easy that 2003 schedule was. 2003 played 3 teams all year that finished the season ranked. The only other sec west team to finishthe season ranked was ole miss.
While 2011 played one of the toughest schedules in modern cfb history.

2003 lsu will always be my favorite lsu team because it gave me something i thought id never see as a lsu fan but if in being honest, 2011 defense was better. 2003 offense was way better than 2011 though.

That result could be attributed to offensive improvement, but defensive dominance provided the Tigers with ample opportunities to score while saying no no no to the ga offence. JM

Both were great defenses and youre splitting hairs when you pick one.
2003 was stifling in the yardage given up while 2011 would allow more yardage but had a massive take away number.

Shouldn't you be comparing 2010 stats to 2015? You know, the one where the passer rating was only 7 points better than in 2015.

Compare 2011 to 2016

I think he's our best interior lineman since Glenn Dorsey. It will be interesting to see how he does playing 4 technique DT/DE in the 3-4.

Godchaux best since Dorsey?!?! He would have to have an All-American season to be in the conversation with Michael Brockers...

I don't know about best, because Adams, white, and key will be rated higher as of now from a pure talent standpoint. But we could lose any one of them and survive. Kendall Beckwith is the single most important player we have on D and losing him devastates us. He is clearly the most important. Albeit not the "best"

No. Youre asking me to forget how talented our 2011 team was. Ive admitted thats its unfair to judge 2016 because they havent finished writing their story.
I just find it hard to believe 18 players off of 2016 defense will be on a nfl roster.

For your sake ill do it your way.

2010 lsu was 18th in opponents pass completions per game. 2015 WAS 80TH
2010 lsu was 10th in opponents passing yards per gad@me. 2015 was 57th in opponents passing yards per game. 2015 GAVE UP ALMOST 50 YARDS MORE PER GAME

2010 gave up less passing 1st downs than 2015

There is nothing that points to 2016 secondary as being as good as 2011. Its not a hige knock on 2016. 2010 and 2011 lsu secondary was legendary man. I dont understand what the big deal is. People act like I'm shitting on 2016 because i dont believe they will be as talented as one of the most talented secondaries in lsu history. The same goes for the dline. I dont believe our entire 2 deep dline roster wil make a nfl roster. Thats not a slight.

Lets hope its Beckwith or another DL besides Godchaux.
If either is the case we will be flat out dominant.

Key is a special player and is going to get to the QB regardless. This alone gives him an opportunity to change games by creating turnovers by himself or causing bad QB decisions. With Aranda theres no telling how many times he will be in the backfield untouched wrecking havoc. But he would get there plenty even in a 4-3 heads up on the LT.
Its a tough call but a buttkicking dominanting Beckwith, including coverage, more than anyone holds the KEY to everyone getting plenty of excellent matchups to showcase their skills.
Im so ready to see QB's soiling their pants again, when the Tiger D is on the hunt.

I think we will say Arden Key because he is going to put up sexy stats like Sacks
