Their coach is a standup hard arse who works his players fair and hard. Parents love that shite.

Most of their players are from new York. Guess the players wanted to stay closer to home. Why would a player from around here sign with a school 2000 miles away if get offered in state?

There are four research universities in the SUNY system: Stony Brook, Buffalo, Binghamton, and Albany. Stony Brook and Buffalo are members of the AAU. What school does your girlfriend consider the flagship SUNY?

LOL @ whoever said Stoney Brook is the flagship university of NY

but accurate statement on the coach. He has worked his arse off. He was hired as a part-time coach way back when and built the program up from when it was a D3 school

Evidently Boston College & UConn have recruiters who suck at spotting talent.

UConn had like 8 draft picks last year, including 2 first round picks. They also made a Super Regional.

Then what is? It is right there with Buffalo as 1 of the 2 premier schools in the SUNY system. Binghamton is an excellent school, but the people I knew that went there were all liberal arts types. Like you said Doc, people that went into law.

SUNY doesn't appear to have an officially designated flagship, but Binghamton clearly fills the role of being the most prestigious school for students wishing to advance into careers in law, medicine, or business.

Albany is the location for administrative offices because it's in the capital.

Stony Brook is probably the best tech-related school, especially for those who are interested in statistical mathematics or experimental physics. That doesn't make it a flagship campus though.

flagship or not, it is odd to have a program with that type of enrollment and be so under the radar. It does intrigue me as to how the coach found as much talent as he did and got them to come to Stoney Brook. I am not saying it as a flame, quite the opposite. It speaks wonders to his ability and I would be worried he is going to be at a more mainstream baseball school in the near future if I was a Seawolves fan, either of them... i kid i kid.

Maybe their scholarships are worth more than LSU's...

Yeah, that too I guess.

Let's not forget that Stony Brook has a special connection to prep baseball in Toronto, Canada.

Most of these guys are from NY though. Willie Carmona is a local Long Islander from Hempstead. Ditto for Pat Cantwell from West Islip.

roster = LINK.

I was referring to their basketball team from a few years ago. Basically Binghampton's entire basketball team was a drug ring.

"those guys" must be staying there instead of coming to Tulane these days. Tulane has been falling back on the diamond and this New York school is doing well now............hmmmm.

Buffalo ? You kid right ?

Binghamton is by far the best SUNY school in the state.

And this is coming from someone who visited all these schools before deciding on LSU and also knew several kids who went to Binghamton, SB, Albany and Buffalo

Isn't their BBall program a total outcast in the conference they play in because of the guys they recruit? I remember a story from a year or so ago where all the other coaches in the conference were pissed because Binghamton was recruiting all kinds of shady characters (when the league had some kind of gentleman's agreement not to do so.)

It depends on the program as Doc mentioned. I also knew several people that went to Binghampton (all were very smart and are now lawyers or doctors), but Buffalo is an excellent school. My brother went to Stony Brook (and played baseball there) so I know about that school as well.
