Notice they conveniently left out Vagina Tech. Yeah, the same ACC Champ, BCS-bound Vagina Tech that we absolutely skull-dragged for 60 minutes.

Notice they left out the convenient fact that in order to hoist that crystal trophy, we had to whip that Ohio State arse in the BCS title game.

LSU wasn't GIVEN the damn trophy you fricking morons!!!! LSU EARNED the damned thing!!!!! Other teams had a chance to earn it, but they lost to such stalwarts as Pitt, Stanford, South Carolina and the like to miss their chance at glory, so PISS OFF!!!!!

Sounds like the comment on the link is running 2007 and 2008 together. Fact is in 2007, LSU played the conference champ of the ACC and demolished them. LSU played and beat 5 of the final top 15, a feat not accomplished by any other team in the history of college football.

In 2008, LSU does have a weak OOC schedule. Nobody has contended otherwise. But if LSU were to go undefeated or lose only one game, it will still have played more highly ranked teams than almost any other team in the country, certainly more than any team in the Pac 10. Who cares about the OOC? USC will play nobody in the top 10 for the rest of the season. They may play no more than 2 or 3 ranked teams for the entire year. Despite LSU's cupcake OOC schedule, LSU will still play better opponents overall than any Pac 10 team, any ACC team, any Big 10 team, and most Big 12 teams.

Right. Because talking about only 4 games and ignoring 9 games is the only way they can criticize our schedule.

Anybody who does that is really stupid. But, it's a sportswriter so we already knew that anyway.

Most LSU fans want to play at least one solid BCS OOC opponent every year, and we had that lined up but then had some cancellations. I think it was stupid for us to insist on terms with TT and Rutgers that made the deal fall through (first home in BR), but hopefully that won't happen again. I'd love to see a home/home with ND, USCw, aTm, Texas, FSU, GT, Nebraska, Oregon, Michigan, or Penn State. I know most LSU fans would rather that than Troy, UNT, or even Tulane.

Aside from the above, there is something to be said for our conference games. Aside from the BIGXII, every other conference is very top-heavy with only two teams or so even in the top 25, requiring them to schedule tough OOC games to be legit. I guess I'll apologise to the Pac-10 teams for the fact that they have to schedule a tougher OOC schedule than their in-conference games would be. The SEC has the luxury (or misfortune depending on who you ask) of not having to do what USCw or ND or UCLA has to do to be legit.

All I know is that LSU plays 4 teams this year that is currently in the top ten. Name one school outside the SEC that can come close to that.

i think the guy that wrote the article was talking about LEGIT BCS bowl teams, i think they just put fla st. in there just to make the ACC feel like they are just a lil good...

people bashed OSUs nonconference last year, but then also commented that they were smarter than other schools to do so. When the SEC gets bashed theres no silver lining. I mean we have to play 4 top 10 teams...what more do they want...

Apparently alot of people here. Because everytime someone correctly mentions or writes about the OOC schedule this place goes into complete meltdown mode.

I hate our Out of Conference schedule this year, but we play way more top 10 teams than any Pac 10 or Big 12 school.

why would a UCLA fan post on a LSU forum?

We never play them, there is no history between the two schools, and the only reason to do so would be to hang on the nuts of the team you're supposed to hate more than anyone - USC

Where they're ranked now doesn't mean shite...it's the final poll that tells the tale.

Last year, LSU was the most deserving NC candidate when you look at that:

2007 Record vs. Teams
Team Finishing in AP Top 15

LSU 5-0
Georgia 2-1
Southern Cal 0-0
Ohio State 0-1
West Virginia 1-0
Kansas 1-1
Missouri 1-2
Oklahoma 1-1

As far as the OOC scheduling, yeah- it sucks. LSU has a recipe that's working within the current BCS system and fortunately the SEC is "tough" enough that we can get by with a couple of powder puffs.

The Tigers' recipe for a national championship: Schedule the cupcake champ and get a TV deal with ESPN. Talk up Troy. Beat the stuffing out of North Texas. Start the "tough path" talk before you lose to an overrated SEC team. Barely stay with Tulane in the first half, then blow them away in the second. Play 75 percent of your games at home. Lose to another mediocre SEC team and repeat the "tough path" whine. Hoist crystal trophy.

Wow...way to mix and match seasons there.....I guess he doesn't understand the concept of mutual exclusivity.

LSU plays Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia. They can knock the nonconference schedule, all they want; I would like to see them survive the conference schedule that LSU faces.

I'm pretty sure "mediocre SEC team" refers to teams in our conference, Mr. Indignant.

The frickwad part of those assholes' "argument" is that there is no conference schedule. They literally do not consider it to exist. If you played Wilson Jr. High 8 times in conference play, but scheduled Ohio State or Oregon in your OOC schedule, they would rate your schedule harder than LSU's. Of course it is absolutely retarded, but then again it gets certain types of idiots saying things like, "it's true!"
