You are confused and you are wrong.

That being said, I don't think it is "always" a bad call. For instance, you aren't bunting with Deichmann obviously.

I thought the same thing until I read the definition of "run expectancy" in ell's first link.

Run expectancy is the number of runs expected to be scored in an inning based on certain situations.

It's NOT the probability of scoring ONE run, which is more applicable to our discussion about scoring a run to tie a game in the last inning to extend the game.

It's sort of counter-intuitive but the odds of scoring one run is lower while the number of multiple runs scored is higher in the "man on second with no outs versus a man on third with one out" bunt situation we've been debating.

At least, that's what the chart ell linked to in his second link shows.

Go figure....
