Chavis did it the wrong way. Supposed to be a leader to these kids and he bolts with his tail between his legs. Funny no players are really talking highly of him. Seems his way letting his players know was about as good as his 2 minute drill defense.

Yep. He told Ugo Amadi (commit from Tennessee) a couple of days before he committed and Kevin Toliver's dad, just last week, that he was going to stay at LSU. I read on here or ATVS, that supposedly the defensive position coaches (or at least some of them) signed their extensions on his word that he will still be coaching at LSU next year.

The guy fricked over everybody. Half assed preparation, players get the news when they make it to the stadium for the bowl (that's from Rasco's mouth), and then half assed the in game play calling.

He left like a bitch. His legacy at LSU will be tarnished because of that.

Correction - 0-3 vs Chavis, so he hired him. Sumlin also has a better bowl record and is .500 against Saban.

There's a lot of stupid up in here

I don't know if this can be verified, but it sure as hell looked like it on the field.

Sunlin has done nothing. This was a money play.

This. Yes - there was the quibbling about money, but Chavis is no fool. He sees a program in decline and wishes to no longer be associated with it. There is no more upside at LSU and no reasonable chance for another NC.

Miles and Alleva made this mess

I agree there, but thats all.

There is no reason that LSU should have went to the last game of the season without knowing if he would be back. He should have either be resigned, or not coached the game...bottom line.

Miles is not to blame on this. Chavis felt betrayed by his true love, Tennessee. Miles gave him a home. They have great respect for each other. Chavis did not leave because of Miles.

Could be true, if it is it's hypocritical to blame lsu's woes on Chavis. An average offense would be a huge boost to our program.

I think there may be something to this. Chavis had played this scenario before with Fulmer at UT. He isn't getting any younger, and probably figured it was time to get out while the getting is good, instead of being let go like he was at Knoxville.

Maybe you should get over Chavis leaving and move on. I don't want a guy who leaves LSU in the manner that Chief did. We could be in for an even bigger hire so relax.

also, like someone said, players didn't seem to mind him leaving. Don't care.

So you are doubling down on being a total imbecile after posting that message board rumors are a sign of program in turmoil

Please go on.

Wrong. Miles was never 2-0 vs. Saban. At one point he was 1-2 vs. Saban.

So last season Cam outperformed Chavis but it was ok because he had lots of youth but this year it's flipped and Chavis thinks it's unfair?

Makes sense.

Sumlin is on the ascent...
he took over a team with these players already on the roster:

Johnny Manziel (QB) - Heisman winner
Mike Evans (WR) - 7th pick in the 2014 NFL draft
Jake Matthews (OL) - 6th pick in the 2014 NFL draft
Luke Joeckel (OL) - 2nd pick in the 2013 NFL draft
Cedric Ogbuehi (OL) - projected first round pick
Christine Michael (RB) - rivals 5 star

he went 6-2 in the SEC, then 4-4, then 3-5.

"on the ascent"
