Alleva = Joe Dean redux. He needs to be removed. Once the new AD is in place, he will put his people in which means adios Lester.

The board of directors makes the call not the athletic director. He just implements what he is told.

I agree and the dumb fricks that down voted my post are probably the same people who believe in equal pay regardless of performance.

Miles and Alleva made this mess. Chavis was wise to move on.
from a business POV, LSU was wise to let Chavis move on.

from a coaching POV, the next guy will determine whether that was a wise decision.

And it's ridiculous because Miles went Chavis after the bowl game and begged him to stay.

Getting rid of 3rd and Chavis is a mess? Besides the man wanted guaranteed contract even if Miles was gone. That's ridiculous. Let him go fack up the 2 minute drill at College Station.

Close and thoughtful examination of that theory gives it the lie.

Miles was stunned and had nothing like the kind of public comments that would be offered if this were planned.

Also, who would PLAN the abysmal timing of this departure? Miles PLANNED the departure so that it would disrupt bowl game prep and generate a loss?

Or maybe Miles simply agrees with many here that it was just "a meaningless bowl game"?

Everything Miles said and did on 29 and 30 Dec indicates that he was stunned and tried to convince Chief to stay.

BUT, Chief's not the only very good DC out there.

Ok 1. Where is the proof of this?

2. If what I posted is true this would be the final part of him leaving without knowing it was a setup, in a SCAM like this the final part of the SCAM is called "Cooling Out the Mark"

The Mark believes they have made the best choice, amongst all choices, good or bad, and quietly goes away. It is the finishing touches of a smooth operation. It is how they are eased out of the picture.

Chavis did it the wrong way. Supposed to be a leader to these kids and he bolts with his tail between his legs. Funny no players are really talking highly of him. Seems his way letting his players know was about as good as his 2 minute drill defense.

No in a successful SCAM cooling out the mark is essential for the scam to work.

No I am not saying I agree with what others have posted just that if they are correct this is how it would go.

Already people are Euphoric about the switch to CP over JC. Ask yourself how would you accomplish this with a smooth transition and cooperation for JC to leave, this is one way it would look.

Hey I don't have the answer, I just know "Cooling out the Mark" is a necessary part of any scam, and some folks are postulating that this was all planned for him to leave, the issue was how to get him to leave without a lot MORE hubbub.

It was reported by several LA media that Chavis did not travel back with the team and went to his ranch in TN to think things over... after sitting down with Miles. Noting that the team didn't travel back that night but the next day. On the day the team traveled back, Chavis informed TAMU of his decision but didn't sign anything because if they wait until today to ink a contract TAMU saves $400k in buyout.

One other point, for those that want Miles gone (count me in), keeping Chavis and meeting his demands to keep him makes getting rid of Miles that much harder because it makes it that much more difficult for the next guy (OR... LSU financially).

Sumlin is not on the ascent nor is he elite. He fell into the spotlight with Case Keenan at the University of Houston and managed a mediocre team, same at A&M with being at the right place at the right time, especially with "Johnny Football."

Don't read me wrong though because A&M is an elite school and will obtain major talent for a long time to come.

are you kidding? The AD is there to run the business. LSU is making money hand over fist. His job is not in jeopardy. and I'm no Alleva fan either.

You have to admit, the Patient - the Fan Base- is now very calm and looking forward to the transition to CP, in less than 24hrs - no?

Cooling Out the Mark

The long and short of it is how to get the Mark to move along quietly and not blow open the scam
