But isn't the committee supposed to take in what you do later more than what happened early? Their whole thing in the offseason was talking about best team period regardless. IMO, if you've paid attention to this team, you would realize that it is a lot different than just a month ago, let alone 2 months. It's like people can't move past that fact. Auburn has not gotten better since, and neither has MSU. On the other hand, LSU has turned it completely around. I would have hoped that they would have looked a bit more in depth with these teams. Find out when they started to play better/worse, and what caused that change. Hell, since those first two losses, we have held every offense to their season low and we have ran for a season high, against every defense.

stop being rational with Lester. cmon man.

Ole Miss is 4-2 LSU is 3-2 We'll be below Ole Miss. Beat Bama and we'll be above them.

By then we will be complaining about being behind Bama with a head-to-head win instead.

I completely agree.

The only thing I like is that there's a playoff setup. Aside from that, this is worse than the last few years of the BCS.

It's all (I use that word loosely) but opinions from others. They can say they'll be unbiased but let's be realistic.

Anyway, getting back to the topic, Ole Miss should be ranked below LSU but who knows the way it's been going so far.

To hell with the rankings...let's take care of our business and let the chips fall where they may.

While I admire everyone not losing total hope of miraculously making the playoff, in all reality it's probably not happening. Let's just finish the season strong (2+ wins) and no matter where we end up in the rankings I'll be very happy.

I have no problem with if we are behind Ole Miss this week, because they are a half game ahead in the conference. You can argue the head to head is a tie breaker. Now once we have played equal conference games and both are 2 loss teams I have a problem with that.
You can't assume LSU who is 3-2 will be 4-2 like Ole Miss. That is looking ahead. We haven't played a game to give us that record in conference yet.

Not yet because we were blown out by Auburn. If we beat Bama they will move to about 10 or 11 and we will be at 9.

I won't mind if we aren't.

We lost to Auburn by 5 touchdowns and they let up at the end.

They can rank us wherever they want because of that, and I'd be fine.

This whole thread is BS....Beat the team next week that has the most street cred just because of who they are coached by. It doesn't matter at this point...win the next three and see where everything is slotted then.

I admit if LSU wins next week and I think they can, I'll pay more attention to these rankings, but you have to consider teams from all over the country, fair or not because the committee will.

Ole Miss just put up 30+ points and should have beaten the team that walked all over us.
They clearly had a terrible night in Tiger Stadium, but that doesn't mean we are the better team. Based on the body of work, OM is better.

Not that I really care where we're ranked in relation to OleMiss because it's meaningless either way, but LSU has the same overall record against a tougher schedule and the head-to-head win. There is definitely a rational argument to be made that LSU should be ranked ahead of OleMiss.

Because we surely dropped like a stone after losing 2 in a row. They just lost 2 in a row.

Wait for it.......

Wait for it.....

No.. they won't drop below us. The state of Mississippi seems to be the new state of Alabama.

Your leaving out one small point.---Ole Miss Beat BAMA at Home.

Ole Miss plays a Church School next weekend. The Tigers play Bama at Home and at NIGHT. If LSU Beats Bama, they should be ranked ahead of Ole Miss when the rankings comes out that Tuesday night. I'd say top 10.

Everyone keeps talking about it being too far for Ole Miss to 'fall' in the rankings. But a quote from the committee last week said they are supposed to completely re-do the rankings every week. It is not supposed to just be an update from the previous week. If they are truly doing that, and compare the two resume's, I would think they have to rank LSU ahead of Ole Miss. Having said that, I don't have a ton of confidence that they will.

My hope is the committee was just trying to get out of there after the first 5-10 teams.

If the committee is going to use blow outs as criteria then they should take note of teams that improve as much as LSU has and if they beat Bama then LSU should jump into top 5 being we will be one of the only teams to beat 3 top 10 and 2 top 5
