only bama, lsu, and auburn have won anything significant. Since 1992 when the sec championship game started, those 3 are the only west teams to win a SEC championship. Ole Miss hasnt even won the west since then and a&m has been worse than Missouri.

Texas may consider coming to the SEC for recruiting reasons. One thing about the SEC, it attracts some of the best recruits. Texas A&M's recruiting has gotten better since it moved to the SEC. Texas better follow suit.

Everything happens in cycles. We might not see it now but the east is coming. The west will sort it's self out

Yes!! Realign the divisions in this way
WEST Arkansas LSU Miss State Miss Mizzou TA&M Vandy
EAST Ala. Auburn Fla. GA Kentucky SC Tenn
Alabama plays Tenn every year, GA plays Auburn every year. \Go to 9 game schedule with tow rotating opposite division teams.
Then listen to Alabama fans squeal.
Next move SEC HQ out of Alabama then the'll really squeal.

Gotta believe aTm has something between an understanding and a guarantee that Texas doesn't join the SEC anytime soon.

First off, nothing is going to change for several years.

Second simply it is doubtful the SEC will ever put 5 of the big 6 historically in the east.

Third, the SEC obviously will not put out a schedule that doesn't include Bama vs UT and AUB and AUB vs Bama and UGA.

I'm definitely for a 9 game SEC schedule, even if the aforementioned teams get to keep "their games". It doesn't mean the rest have to be locked into a permanent cross division opponent.

I'm for a 12 game SEC schedule and the SEC champion plays the ACC champion in Atlanta.

it all goes in cycles. Bama sucked before Saban. Florida dominated with Spurrier and Meyer but sucked with Zook and Muschamp. Tennessee was dominant for years and then tanked. The Mississippi schools were miserable and are now relevant.

Don't overreact and change the divisions. One day, the east will be the better division again.

The east used to dominate. Its cyclical

yea, uf and ut are down. but I have always thought that auburn to the east and mizzou to the west would be a good idea.

How did the west canibaluze itself? One team from the west is still in the top 4...

Texas has its own network and a softer conference. Their ego won't allow them to follow aTm. They're not coming to the SEC.

A suggestion (really more thinking out loud) that I posted on SEC Rant:

quote:

With the new playoff system (and the possible expansion of it in the future) I'm not sure that two divisions are the best way to go no matter how they are aligned.

Vet this idea for me - what if they did away with divisions all together and instead used some sort of formula or algorithm to schedule out so that each team would play each other team on a regular basis. It would be mathematically assured that each team would play each other team the same amount of times over a given period - with the following possible exception.

For teams who don't want to lose traditional rivalries, you could make the following exception: each team could name up to 2 permanent opponents (could be 0 or 1 if they want). If someone you name also names you as a permanent opponent, you get to play them every year).

Relax Francis.

In the 90s, I recall Florida and Tennessee as the dominant teams. I wasn't saying the East ever had 5 or 6 very good teams, just that the east was better than the west, at least at the top.
