Should the SEC change the schedules ..

To win it all, we must get to the playoffs.. and as this year has shown us, the Western Division has cannibalized itself.
so, should the SEC re-align the divisions every so often, or do a rotating play schedule.
It seems that the western div is playing with a bigger handicap....
opinions ???
FYI, I know our games change..but I am talking about "the composition of the divisions".

when ??
I have seen a couple of strong teams, but never with the depth of the West.

Nope.
A team has to probe themselves right now in the SECW.

Umm in the 90's when Florida named their score against everyone? Tennessee was great in the late 90's and UGA is always solid.
Mississippi St had a dream season which made the west more difficult than usual.

forget EGO...
it is about getting to the playoffs...
why should a group of teams have it harder ?

It's not ego.
It's good ole fashioned competition.

Bama and Auburn to the East. Mizzou and Kentucky to the West. That'll even things out (and it will also deal with the absurdity of having Mizzou in the East). The Gumps still get to play Tennessee every year, so the only real objection to realignment is resolved.

I agree, 2 or 3 teams, but look at the West...
Alabama
Mississippi St.
Ole Miss
Auburn
LSU
Texas A&M
Arkansas

that would not only balance the task, but has some logic to it.

competition should be fair..in that teams should have to face somewhat similar challenges to get to the playoffs...
when there was a MATH formula, I would agree more with you, but now,
we must pass the "EYEBALL" test with humans who are likely wanting to represent as many divisions as possible.
the definition of the BEST FOUR TEAMS has drastically changed.

The ONE thing that needs to be done FIRST is ELIMINATE "common opponents".
The schools from the SEC East and West that play each other need to be rotated.
LSU almost never plays Vanderbilt, and has never played Mizzou as an SEC opponent (and wont play them until 2016).
This system is a joke and needs to go.

This has been a topic that's been bashed to death...but scheduling will be a problem so long as we continue to allow four programs to run scheduling based on their idiotic traditional rivalries they have with teams that sit in the other side of the division.
There should be NO permanent cross division rivals...period. If teams like BAMA, TENN, AU and UGA have to play each other every year than they can feel free to all get in the same damn division. If they don't like that, we can continue to be split up, but still have no permanent rival and they can feel free to schedule their cross division rival as an OOC game in those years where they don't rotate naturally onto their schedule.
But allowing 4 teams to dictate scheduling was bad enough when it was only a 12 team league. Now that it effects 1o other programs it's beyond absurd.

The SEC HQ should do whatever is in the best interest of Alabama.
EDIT: The SEC HQ should CONTINUE doing what's in the best interest of Alabama.

Conference expansion would cure a lot.
Add Texas and Oklahoma. You now have all of Texas wrapped up essentially and you gain Oklahoma City and Tulsa TV markets.
Then move Alabama and Auburn to the East. It would create equitable divisions and keep all the rivalries intact (TN-AL, AL-AU, AU-GA) etc. The only problem is that Missouri would remain in the East which is not geographical.
Go to a 9 game SEC schedule without a permanent opponent which will allow a team from each division to play teams in the other division on a more frequent basis.

Do not know that TX and Okla would come, but
it is one solution I like.

there should be no divisions and the top 2 play for the SEC championship.
