I'm really starting to believe this theory. The SEC does stand to lose a lot of money if Bama and Florida had lost.

I never saw the play that Mullen is complaining about...did he have a legit beef?

Yeah the DB who returned the ball for the TD crossed the plane of the goal line with an empty hand (the hand that was carrying the ball).

I hate to say it, but it looks like that at times. I thought the big 12 was doing the same for Texas during the OU game.

the camera angle wasn't perfect but it was clear enough to overturn the bad call. we all know the term "indisputable" has been ignored since the inception of replay reffing

That play was during one of LSU's commercial breaks. One of the MSU players got there just as the gator started dancing into the end zone, and looked to knock the ball away (and fell on it for a touchback). The camera angles weren't great (not expecting a goal-line play) but it looked like Mullen had a case. Until he realized he was playing Florida with SEC refs.

Of course, when you blow a fake punt on your own 20, you're not going to get much sympathy from the league office.

also should have been a celebration penalty

No doubt about it, MSU got jobbed on that call, and with Petrino, Kiffen, and Mullen calling out the refs in a huge way, Slive is under pressure. The SEC office said that Charles Scott pointing to the sky and a quick prayer was a justified flag --- yet Superman has NEVER been called for this having done it 50 times. Major double standards.

SEC officiating is becoming a joke across the country. Other fans, coaches and teams watch these games outside of the SEC. Fans of other major conferences in particular have even asked me about it after watching SEC games. In the last 3 weeks there have been games each week involving Florida and Alabama in which officiating is so suspect that the theory of protecting the highest ranked teams for the sake of the BCS Championship game is becoming a legitimate question. LSU - Florida and the non offensive pass interference touchdown call along with consecutive offside calls against LSU on third down that continued drives for Florida. Florida vs Arkansas? enough said, Bama vs South Carolina with Ingram going off for 247 yards where obvious holding was ignored throughout the game and Bama vs Tennessee this weekend and a non celebration call when the penalty was obvious and the disparity of penalties called on one team vs the other when the team getting all the penalties is among the least penalized teams in the conference. And to take off the purple and gold glasses, the celebration call against Georgia vs LSU on their last touchdown was a joke as was the make up call against Scott. This is an embarrassment. The SEC ivory tower should be ashamed, these officials should be ashamed and embarrassed and when those outside our own conference are talking about it really becomes an embarrassment.

It's so pathetic in my mind ....... that SEC refs are pretty much the laughing stock of CFB. Media is picking up on it.

I am NOT one to usually blame refs, but there are double standards and you must uphold the integrity of the game.

It's despicable, but we need Florida to win out.

This is happening in every game. They just aren't calling holding as much as they used to, IMHO.

Or maybe I've been too drunk to notice.

I sure hope the crew that called LSU-Aub 2006 have been fazed out the SEC's current working ref rotation..

They were downright RICO ACT!

If Kiffin thinks the SEC office, which is BTW in Bama, is going to do anything about him pointing out that Bama gets all the calls at home, then he is just not a student of the SEC. This has been going on for decades.

I'd be really curious to see if someone could come up with a definitive statistical analysis of what road teams go through at Bama. Average per game for Bama opponents prior to playing at Bama, # of calls and amount of yards against Bama. Even that would only be partially telling though as the # of calls and yards take the pentalties out of context of the flow of the game at the time.

For decades I have heard the expression, "you can't just be as good as Bama and expect to win there". You have to be at least 10 points better to account for the calls they are going to get.
