Maybe you should get off the kid's back for possibly just wanting to live out a dream and help out the school he loves.

i'd be shocked if his comment wasn't made in jest.

One injury away from a total meltdown.

If Bolden was in, I don't see it being any better than putting Magee under center.

this post reminded me of when we had to put in Kevin at QB against Notre Dame in 98

But this wrecks the depth chart!

When has Les Miles worried about the QB Depth Chart ?? He has miss handled this position. It has been a Train Wreck. He NEVER plays the back up QB. If our starter gets hurt, It's a pea green backup coming in at QB !!

We can be up by 24 points and our starter is still in there, I have never got that reasoning, nor has Les Miles explained it. It makes no sense.

Maybe you should email him and ask or something.

Yeah a couple of handoffs in a blowout will make out QBs sooo much more experienced

Yea, because LSU has never had to deal with a QB depth issue.

Really?

I love how some people see two different things in stats.

Let's see, like someone else mentioned:

ZM: 32 TDs
Berg: 22 TDs

ZM: 4 INTs
Berg: 9 INTs

ZM: 9 ypa
Berg: 7.5 ypa

ZM: TD per 9.3 passes
Berg: TD per 18.1 passes

So nearly a 2 times as many passes to throw a TD.

Bergeron likely will be a nice addition and has potential, but his JUCO career is not near what Mettenberger's was.

Exactly what I was saying in the other thread. Stats here don't lie. STM never threw the ball downfield always slip screens and 10 and outs and he always rolled out to throw those passes. I haven't seen the college film but its probably the same.

I've never seen a top tier school that has had qb problems like we have the past 8-10 years.

What? 8 years ago we had a qb selected with the first pick of the draft with two other qbs riding the pine that made NFL rosters and one of those has started a hand full of games including holding n a single game record for the packers.

Maybe ask Saban. He's the one who left Mauck in vs Fla with a huge lead only to have him get a season ending injury. I'd say most coaches do it.

People equate 2008-2011 with 10 years

Can't say LSU fans are all great mathematicians.

We had a bad 4 year run at QB, before that we had JR, Flynn, and RP (for a couple of games), Then we had Mett. In between those guys was the problem for 4 years.

I think the poster probably also would like to see the backup get meaningful snaps instead of just handing off. If the opponent can't stop the 2nd string QB, can it really be called running up the score.

This is one of Mile's weaknesses. He refused to let anyone other than the starting QB get meaningful snaps until he has no choice (injury...poor performance rarely is enough for Les).

I also wonder why he didn't give Rettig an opportunity in the spring game, because in not doing so he essentially told him he might as well transfer.

Mile's management of QBs has been very suspect IMHO.

and why would you? how often has lsu had a comfortable enough lead against a legitimate opponent to warrant risking pulling the starter? no competent football coach with an established #1 QB would ever put in the backup until the game was well in hand. and les does play the backup in these situations. problem is, we don't play many games against good teams that are blowouts before the 4th quarter.

He apparently was not an option for being moved back to quarterback for 2014 after Stephen Rivers and Hayden Rettig transferred earlier this year.

We had 2 scholarship QBs ever since Rivers decided to transfer, things never changed.

The only reason this thread has gone this long is because of some peoples anti-Miles agenda. It's a non- issue. You go past your back up it doesn't matter who qb's- you're not going to do real well. We were 3 (or 4 deep if you count RP who should have been the starter) in 2008 and won 7 regular season games. Nobody will do real well. Few really good teams have great 3rd stringers. They tend to transfer out for playing time.
