At some point the kid should just admit he sucks at football (relatively) and just enjoy college.

Yeah, really don't see why you'd transfer at this point.

i'm confused as to how this kid would even be eligible to play anywhere else by transferring. i don't recall seeing his name listed as guys who graduated. that seems to be the only possible way he could transfer without penalty, given he's already used his redshirt

What brought him here anyways? Was he actually looking for playing time at QB?

Possibly most likely true, however Brandon Bergeron has drawn comparison to Mettenberger by some writers in the know. We've seen teams have success with a 3rd string QB before.. again not likely.. however if anyone can win without a capable QB.. it's clearly LSU.

Either way Rob Bolden leaving has no impact on 3rd string QB depth as Bergeron is ahead of him here..

Pretty sure he can still transfer without issue because of the Penn State thing. That's why he left Penn State in the first place.

That leaves LSU with two scholarship quarterbacks, sophomore Anthony Jennings and freshman Brandon Harris, for the 2014 season.

Well if our top 2 options go down, our season is fricked anyway so I don't think our 3rd string QB matters that much.

Or by going to an FCS or lower school.

But two mentioned in the OP are FBS schools.

i wonder if we are the only school to lose 3 QBs in a off season due to transferring and not draft, injury,or graduation

Not devastating, but I would still rather 3 scholly QB's over 2.

It's a legit question. Not jamming on the guy. When he announced he was coming here, it hardly registered a blip and absolutely no one expected him to actually play. I at least assumed he wanted/needed to get away from the situation at Penn State and he just liked the school.

If THAT'S the case, the transfer doesn't make sense to me, considering he should have made this decision a lot sooner if he was actually looking to play college ball. A mediocre Big 10 QB doesn't transfer to a powerhouse SEC school and expect to make an impact.

Rob Bolden wasn't a QB. Rivers graduated.
