re: Reveille Opinion: Fans shouldn't have stormed the field... Is this a joke?

We shouldn't have. I was in an Ole Miss section, and I told their fans us rushing the field was embarrassing.

At first, I was like, 'Ugh. Don't rush the field. It's Ole Miss."
And then I watched every single LSU player run to the stands and beg the fans to join them. It's about the kids, and every single player in Purple and Gold wanted to celebrate the win with their friends, family, and fans.
I didn't rush the field, but I enjoyed watching thousands do it, and I enjoyed even more watching the players enjoy it.

We shouldn't have.
Embarrassing! And, it underscores the lack of knowledge of the game by our students.

Seriously.
The only thing keeping me off the field was being in the uppers

I was ok with the students rushing to celebrate with the team on HOMECOMING, after a HARD fought victory against the 3rd ranked team.
They didn't go belligerent and tear down the goal posts...

It's a blast for players, fans, recruits, everyone except grumpy and pretentious people. I'm all for it after a game like that.

Because IMO our program is better than that. This wasn't like being unranked an knocking off number 1. Just my opinion. I don't judge any of the students that did it. I'm sure the players loved it.

but really who the frick are you to determine what reaction is the proper way to celebrate a win? Is football really this serious? Has it really become that joyless for you now, that something so trivial really bothers or "embarrasses" you?

This is why Bama fans are such a miserable lot. I'm okay with us being who we are. If anything, I'd say the folks trying so hard to adopt this miserable Bama sort of mentality are the ones who tend to embarrass me.

But really, who the frick are you to question why I have my own opinion?

So many miserable fricks in this thread. Enjoy life, people! Direct your attention and worries to something more important than how other people choose to have a good time.

I can see both sides of the argument. I went to the game with my son who is 17. After the game was over and the students started going onto the field he told me he wanted to go. I told him, go ahead and enjoy it. I really didn't agree with the fact that we were storming the field for freaking Ole Miss, but I also understand that the student section and the fans were a big part of this win and why not let them join the team in celebrating. I did go sit on the OM bench and enjoy the rest of my Rum

I know what you mean for sure. And I agree overall our program is better than rushing the field for beating #3. I just think earlier this season we were at the lowest point we've been in 15+ years honestly. So, for that reason I'm good with it.
PS - I also feel it was a really strong bonding moment for the fans with this team. Everyone is rejuvenated.

Did/Will LSU get fined for it? If so, it should be added to the fees of the students who attended.

Winner of the thread. I wish I could have enough stash to last the entire game.

better than students celebrating with fellow student athletes? If you don't think what happened saturday night was a really cool scene then maybe college football just isn't for you. To me, nights like that are what make it so much fun.
