if you are just looking from the outside as a win over #3 Ole Miss then yeah, probably doesn't warrant rushing the field

It doesn't.

You are. Either that or your idea of manufactured emotion is unique to you, because what you're saying makes no sense.

I think you are missing the point.

A win over a #3 team (3 pt favorite) at home shouldn't be a groundbreaking event with the number of accomplishments that LSU has over the last 15 years. It was a good win. But, we will probably have wins like this every year or so. Does it make sense to you to rush the field once a year?

No I think you're missing the point. Who gives a shite how they choose to celebrate a win? If they want to storm the field after beating ULL I wouldn't care, its stupid to argue over. Who gets to determine which celebrations are proper for which situations? Its retarded.

The bold doesn't help your argument. In fact, it hurts it to an amazing extent.

People bitch and bitch and bitch about the game experience being boring and fans leaving early..... Now the students do something incredibly fun that the players and coaches love and these same fans bitch about acting like you've been there.

"Acting like you've been there" has taken the fun out of being a tiger fan: Wins are expected and losses are a meltdown. I wish we had this much fun for every win.

I think it's a shame that that image is going to be attached to a victory over Ole Miss during a rebuilding year for the program.

Somebody posted a link to Jacques Doucet's article about this. I suggest that you read it.

It's more about the sudden "rebirth" of a season that not long ago looked like it was going into the crapper. If you were at the game and couldn't feel the emotion and see how the fans got caught up in it, then you don't sound like someone who'd be much fun to go to a game with.

It's an opinion. I get that you think the topic is beneath you. For the record, I'm very impressed.

Having said that, if one is going to offer an opinion on whether or not a win over a 3 pt favorite in a "down year" for the program justified the celebration, I think most reasonable, knowledgable people would come to the conclusion that it was an overreaction.

is it an overreaction for fans and players to celebrate (in anyway) a TD against say...NMST?

serious question

I know you said serious question, but that's pretty funny.

ETA: I agree with your point in case that wasn't clear.

I don't think the students rushing the field is bad.

I'm a lot closer to the opposite of that.

I'm fine with you offering your opinion that you believe rushing the field after beating Ole Miss (let that sink in) makes sense.

I'll stand on my opinion that the Ole Miss win wasn't monumental at all...and that we are about to play a game in 12 days that is much, much bigger.

I thought it made sense at that moment

if LSU had won 24-10 or something like that and the game was decided before the last 2 seconds, they don't rush the field, in fact they are probably leaving early

Of course not.

Are you that simple-minded that all celebrations are equal? Are you under the impression that I'm suggesting that the students shouldn't have been celebrating at all?

serious question
