so on a scale of 1-10, with 9 being rushing the field (10 would be tearing down the goal post), what level of celebration did that win warrant?

I don't think they should have rushed the field either but whatever. It's just the students wanting to have fun. I did it in 2001 vs Auburn and probably would have done it Saturday if I was a student.

why not?

should LSU students and fans be "above it"?
that sounds like a miserable way to be

Below a 9.

Now, let me ask you a question. Where does this win rank in the history of big wins of the program?

Is it a top 10?

Is it a top 20?

I know this will blow your mind, but a person can think LSU doesn't need to rush the field and not be a miserable excuse of a fan.

yes. clearly. That's the issue. It's not that rushing the field for beating a 3 point favorite Ole Miss in a season where we have 2 losses and are in a rebuilding year is over the top...it's that I'm miserable.

Based on how the season has played out thus far, our young team improving, and how big an impact the crowd had on the game, I just do not understand why people have a problem with this.

First time in 17 years and it was an organic outpouring of emotion that was a great moment for those of who weren't there in '97 to witness.

The only thing I'm upset about is that I wasn't a part of it. People bitching about this really need to get over themselves. Football is supposed to be fun, and all we've heard this season, and for the past several seasons actually, is how the fun has been taken out of LSU football.

Fans leave early and everyone bitches. Fans don't fill up the stadium and everyone bitches. The crowd isn't loud enough and everyone bitches. On this special night full of emotion, not only did the crowd fill up the stadium for the entirety of the game, but they STAYED LATE!

Yet people still bitch. You really can't win as an LSU fan.

I think we've found the issue.

I think that's a ridiculous standard to determine whether or not it makes sense to rush the field.

It's fun and something the students wil always remember and tell their kids about. It happens only once a year or three at home being an underdog to a top ranked team winning with an exciting finish. Don't agree with tearing down goal post! I remember running on field in 2000 or 2001 against Tennessee

Rushing the field makes more sense bc its a rebuilding year. Bc three weeks ago it was a lost season and we were going to struggle to be bowl eligible. You say we have these types of wins every year...when's the last time we had a last second win against a top 5 team, as an underdog, in tiger stadium at night?

South Carolina 2 years ago was a close game but not a last second win. And the level of hatred for usc is nowhere near ole miss. Bama in 2010? Day game. And we were ranked 12, not 24. Florida 2007 we were ranked number one, same with auburn and the bird catch. Bama 2008 and 2012 were the closest but we lost both those games.

We haven't had a win "like" this in a long time. Throw in Miles mom and the overall cathartic vibe of the whole fan base and you have a very special set of circumstances.

I disagree.

And, I think a year from now, very few will remember this as a "huge" win.

Like I said, we are going to be playing in a much bigger game in 2 weeks.

As someone who rushed the field, you can kiss my left nut. It was awesome and something I never got to do as a student.
