With a QB with any ability at all we would have at least scored

Jefferson is the all time winningest QB at LSU.

Is he? I know the number being discussed heading into 98 was around 25 (Herb would likely have had the record if we’d just gone 8-4 or so).

Off the top of my head I think both Jordan and Burrow are right at 25 wins as a starter.

ETA
Hodson has the record with 31. Herb is 2nd at 27. Jamarcus/ Joe have 25, and Jefferson has 24.

And yes, in multiple cases some of those starts were finished by other QBs. But some of those guys came off the bench to finish out wins as well.

You had to figure a lot of people would put Etling and Lee in the top two spots for certain reasons.

Jefferson vs. Lee, Jefferson literally has better numbers at every category than Lee, outside of ypa which is almost identical.

All of their numbers are virtually identical outside of rushing which is the only area Jefferson had a definitive advantage over Lee.

In the middle of the 2019 season, I met Danny Etling's uncle in the Fresh Market - this was right around the time Joe Burrow started getting press as a Heisman favorite, but before the Bama game.

Etling's uncle said that Danny would have loved to have played in the offense that LSU was running at that time. Etling was a backup QB for Atlanta at that time, but his uncle said that New England tried to switch him to wide reciever. Is that true? I didn't realize Etling was that fast.

Lee was on a roll his last year. Jefferson's only good year was his sophomore year. They are about equal I'd say, Jefferson was definitely more mobile.

JJ was key in winning the 2011 regular season Bama game, while Lee was resemblant of a 4 yo girl walking blind thru a haunted house during that game. Lee wanted no part of Bama. Whether it be the game in Tuscaloosa or the BCSNCG.

Jefferson also won more than Lee.

Yeah but winning isn't all on QB. Jefferson's 2009 was a lot better than his 2010. 800 more yards and 10 more TDs with 3 less ints. But he won more games in 2010.

Lee in 2011 was better than Jefferson. The offense looked lost a lot with JJ out there in 2011.

Like it or not JJ is the last LSU QB to have a winning record vs Bama...
