Question about the QB situation at LSU.
I trust in the coaches making the best decision (which is what they are paid big bucks to do). I don't necessarily agree with them (i.e. the Jordan Jefferson debacle in the NC game against the Gumps)
As far as right now...Harris to me has the most upside of any of the QB's I've seen (video highlights, spring game, etc.) But, once again, the coaches evaluate this extensively so I trust they are making the right call in who gets the nod.

What exactly is perplexing?
LSU has had 1 yr of above average, consistent passing QB play in the last 6 yrs. I find that a tad perplexing for a school of our record and recruiting draw.
Maybe that's changing...we will see. Thing is, the "rule" in SEC QB play is that green, new to the program, teen age QB's have their struggles in this conference.
I hope Cam and the new guns are up to the task ahead of them.

You're right, and that's a little scary. It was so nice to run a real offense for a year

Bolden barely played at PSU. He isn't elite.

Perplexing is strange, unpredictable. I'm basically saying we have a lot of "high rated" QBs who come here and don't pan out. I didn't even bring up Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson.
We can go look at the recruiting rankings every cycle we took a qb and i bet you can find qbs rated higher than them that didnt pan out. other than kickers, qbs spots arent up for grabs, you only have one start, and you only have a few that are elite in the nfl. So its no surprise that we dont have a drew brees, manning, brady or rodgers every year on our team.

I understand he wasn't a good QB, but he was rated high in high school. My point is, since Matt Flynn, here are some of the QBs on the roster:
RP: #1 DT QB, Kicked off team
JL: Top 10 PS QB, underachieved.
JJ: Top 10 PS QB, underachieved.
RS: #1 DT QB, switched to WR
RB: #2 DT QB, switched to WR
ZM: Was not a top 10, overachieved(in a good way).
SR: Top 20 PS QB, transfer to be a possible starter
AJ: top 6 DT QB, Being challenged by true Fresh
HR: top 3 PS QB, number 3 on roster
It's just a lot of, underachieving, I guess.

a multiyear starter just left.
Rivers transferred from LSU to Vandy so yeah he may start there. But then again maybe Harris or Jennings could too if they transferred.
Bolden sucked.
And Harris was a top rated QB too, and our new OC who specialized in QBs loves him.
not too perplexing.

Should explain why he was not going to start at LSU

I'm surprised that, with Cam running the show, Rettig isn't in the lead. It seems pretty clear that he's the most polished passer of the group
TigrLee, that you? And what did you base that decision on? What body of work? Are you seeing something Cam, Miles and the rest of us haven't seen?

Bolden was a top rated duel threat QB in high school who transfered from Penn State. I didn't make the ratings.
Right and he proved to not be very good at all at Penn State and was so buried on the depth chart here that he moved to WR.

No shite.

I'm not sure how you want to define highly rated, but we haven't exactly gotten world-killers in recruiting QBs. Throw in the RP situation, forcing us to throw Jefferson and Lee to the wolves, and the lack of a vaguely competent QB coach until Krags came along, and you get what we had from 08-11.

I really thought Rivers was the guy after Mett, was disappointed when he transferred.
And when has Rettig looked bad? He should have gotten a lot more playing time in the SG, because when he came in he immediately threw a couple of great passes.
WHITE POWER
Steven Rivers is just not good at all. How on Earth people thought he was good, I have no idea.

Jefferson was black and athletic. He was bad. Rivers is white, tall and a "pocket passer". He's probably good.
Rantard logic 101, brah.

And his brother is Phillip, so he's automatically NFL 1st round material too.

I don't know if it's really perplexing but since you went back to Sheppard, this is my opinion:
1. With Jimbo (2000-2006) we had good QB play
2. It seems to me Crowton (2007-2010) could not develop a QB. As an OC his play calling/scheme may have been fine but as a QB position coach he was not good.
3. Krag may have panned out but unfortunately he became sick and with Stud as a help, then taking over, this had no chance.
4. Cameron is an NFL caliber OC/position coach and he will play the best guy. Judging by recent comments by Miles and what we've seen on tape we have 3 very young guys that I personally think will be Harris/Jennings/Rettig in that order. I wouldn't be surprised if one of those three seek transfer next year.
jmo man, I'm not an 'insider'.

The most we saw of him was in last years Spring game and he looked pretty good.
No reason really to think either way.
