Slowplay. Hope he's a part of the class.

We are still recruiting Leo Lewis, who most feel we have the best chances with at LB. I still don't think those are even 50/50 though. He's committed to ole miss already as if it wasn't already hard enough pulling MS kids.

We are recruiting him, but he cancelled his visit and replaced it with an A&M visit after Chavis left. We're out.

Chavis, the linebacker guru

Chavis, the linebacker guru

1) Chavis wants a specific type of LB - lighter guys who can run. This limited our choices.

2) Chavis was the camp king. He did all his evaluations at camp. If a guy didn't go to camp, he didn't get evaluated, and didn't get offered. End of question. This was frustrating to me and a lot of others (not just a LB problem).

3) We had some high profile misses (Denzell Devall, Shiro Davis, and Kenny Young). If we had locked up Devall, Welter never would have seen the field. Davis is probably the most talented miss...that guy is a beast for Texas.

Could you imagine Kwon-Devall-Davis? That would have been just nasty.

Interesting to see if the new DC continues the lighter faster D, or goes back to a traditional prototypical NFL D.

. Teuhema will start at one end IMO.

He definitely flashed some skills this season that I expect will elevate his playing time. Regardless if he starts or not. Particularly pass rushing. I bet he is in the thick of it for starting.

In a 3-4, some of our DEs would move to OLB, and some DTs would become DEs.

The only guy we have who could play NT is Valentine, who has yet to take a collegiate snap.

HIGHLY doubt we ever see a 3-4

Given our depth a 4-2-5 seems more likely, especially when opponent goes 3 or 4 wide

Looks. Good DE and OLB will be the possible weak spots.

I thought he played better than just about everyone on that defensive line when it came to pass rushing. I remember a game early in the season, maybe ULM, where he was just everywhere and I thought to myself that guy needs to start now... But he didn't.

Wouldn't it make more sense to move Godchaux to DE and let Valentine or one of the others to get in at DT?

With little LB depth and Ducre coming in, who is capable of playing FB...any chance Melvin Jones moves back to defense?

You mean this Shiro Davis?

3 games started,18 tkl, 5 tfl, 3.5 sacks

Sacks were against BYU, Kansas, and Ok State. 3 of 5 tfl and 1.5 of 3.5 sacks were against BYU, in the second game of season in a blowout loss.

Not trying to dog the guy, but beastly......no!

Anybody else here extremely excited for Debo to start? That dude is gonna be a huge playmaker for us. He's constantly all over the field. He's gonna be great for us.

I believe LaCatoure and Valentine will be "Co-starters" and Valentine eventually moving into the starting spot by the end of the season. Valentine is a great defensive tackle. I know bower and teuhema are great pass rushers. I believe we are good at Weak-side but strong-side worries me. Issiah Washington got his 4th star and i believe he is better then Gerald Willis.
