I'm not being condescending. It truly is ridiculous people are taking that statement literally.
Considering your history of trolling, I'm going to assume that you don't truly mean what you say.

As for McElroy's statements, he said the words. The words mean what they mean. McElroy may not believe the words, but he said them.

As for the truth of McElroy's statements, the statements are bullshite. Saban was the beneficiary of excellent timing. LSU had just witnessed what happens when the football budget is too constrained.

who gives a shite what that spoiled little rich kid thinks, pretty sure a mediocre, washed up, backup qb wouldn't have his job if his dad wasn't the highest ranking Cowboy exec not named Jones

To an extent. He also had the vision of the Cox Center for Student athletes and greatly expanding the practice facilities and Football Operations Building. Though this vision was made a reality through the death of:

It was a team effort to show that LSU could be a powerhouse with a little TLC and money. Just like it's been a team effort to take the torch, run with it and sustain excellence unlike LSU ever has.

It's a moronic statement from a loudmouth gump homer. Once again designed to get clicks and attention.

why does any of this matter? I don't care if it was Saban, Les, Dinardo, or frickin Barack Obama that is responsible for LSU's success. I'm just glad it worked out.

I appreciate what Saban did for LSU, and also understand that Alabama was the best job available when he decided to come back to college. It's time to move the hell on.

honestly, he's not really off base.

without Saban, the allure of coming to LSU would not have been established ahead of Miles. Simply from a talent reaping stand point.

That said, Miles deserves every ounce of credit for his record.

back on after the 90's debacle......sure, Gerry had a couple of decent years, but it lacked foundation.

blind hatred for Saban leaving LSU is pathetic

it's not even an educated guess. had someone else been hired and not saban, you have no idea who that would have been, so how can you even make an educated guess as to how they would have translated into making LSU an attractive destination?

It makes one look ignorant to deny NS was the main catalyst to LSU becoming a national power

But he wasn't "the main catalyst." I don't know how one could come to that conclusion. He was key but so were others.

Too many examples of great coaches that helped to build a program up, only for that program to crumble once they left. People brush off what's Les is doing as though it's the standard, like coaches routinely keep a winning program going.

In fact Les has already surpassed everything Saban accomplished while he was here by a wide margin.

I hate Saban.

I also appreciate what he did for LSU, though the revisionist history of his time here is pretty laughable.

Am I pathetic?

It was when he took the Bama job when most LSU fans hated him.
