Roaad, take it from here. I am going to bed.

And dream of tight spirals from JJ, and LSU success. Just to piss off some folks.

Will see. All the predictions or rehashing last year is meaningless at this point. It's one of those "believe it when I see it" things.

That's kind of my point. Mechanics are nice and all, but to act like him showing an improved throwing motion in pitch and catch drills means so much is what I find hilarious.

I honestly think JJ can improve all those things I mentioned and be a great QB, but he has to do it and show it before I'll believe it has happened.

rooad you are smart enought to re read the above and see what that incinuates.
And I think you are wrong.

He knows where to throw the ball pretty much every time. He is just inconsistent in his ability to get the ball to the guy.

Let's see. There were many factors including how they tweaked the offense over the course of the 2004 season to best utilize Young. There is the fact that experience in an offensive scheme and trusting in it take time and will lend to improved play.

It also helped that the play calling improved. Look, improving his throwing motion did help, but you blow its value way out of proportion in an effort to justify you slobbering over JJ playing pitch and catch. Young got better because the offense matched his skills. Once LSU does that, and hopefully they are now, the offense will improve much more than just improving mechanics will.

Such as?

He ran LESS and threw MORE in 2005.

He ran about as much as he passed in 2004.

His efficiency improved after spending the offseason working on his mechanics. Hell, that seemed to be the most written about topic on ESPN that whole Spring/Summer.

Also comes with trusting more in the offense. Despite all of that his throwing motion is still unorthodox and a long wind up.

In the end, they put a lot of focus also on the mental part of his game as a QB and thus his passing improved. Mechanics help, but they mean absolutely nothing if the QB doesn't have the mental grasp needed.

Our defensive backs will be insane this season.

Jefferson's motion looks a lot better in this practice than it did in previous ones. His windup showed itself on a couple of the deep throws, but hopefully that is only occasional as he gets used to the more compact delivery.

Hilliard and DPeterson are huge.

Moreso from his dedication to improving his mechanics.

Who are you talking about? VY was criticized for having the weird sidearm/top hybrid motion that was causing him to release the ball far to low to get over the DL. Slow delivery was never the issue with Young, iirc.

I asked the question earlier, but no one answered. What happens when Pound the Rock Stud meets Aggressive Attack Downfield Krags? 2 out of 3 in the equation favors grinding it out when you add Les. Not sure how big of an influence Krags will have when the actual plays are called.

Still something odd about the way the ball comes out of his hand --- can't put my finger on it.

you're making it sound like it has to be one or the other, when they seem to complement each other. pound the rock, then use play action. mix in some early-down downfield throws because the d is expecting you to pound the rock. sounds to me like the approach we're taking.

also, Stud had a QB throw for 40 TDs one yr at Bowling Green, so he may not be totally "Pound the Rock" Stud.

I looked and didn't see if this was asked or posted, but was that Jamarcus Russell standing next to Miles at the very beginning of the afternoon practice video?

Thanks.
