these two things go hand in hand
Actually no they don't. Not at all.
Tebow and Young are prime examples of forcing mechanics hurting them. Once the coaches let them loose, they tore things up, in particular young.
Most of those things have absolutely nothing to do with mechanics, and watching a video of catch with no defenders in sight doesn't mean shite.

quote:But he looks better than last year, against no defense.
Pretty easy when there is no defense and he is just throwing to random reads.
We call that improvement, where I come from. You compare apples to apples.
Will it translate to better play on the field? Who knows, but it does show he is getting better at what he needs to get better at. . .

You can take almost nothing from this video too, because LSU most definitely edited it to only show the good throws for JJ.

I thought JJ looked fitter and had a better ball.
I was a little alarmed at how flat footed he stood on the downfield throws. But I never coached Drew Bledsoe.
OBJ catches errything.

Vince Young had his greatest season ever after he got his mechanics fixed.

Mechanics weren't JJ's major problems. He had poor mechanics, but that was the least of his issues. The mental part of the game, quick decision making and lack of leadership skills were his issues. I hope those are improved.

Is it showing the entire practice? Every single snap? Is Cauble going to put out bad press for LSU and then expect to be allowed back in there?

Umm... no, he didn't. He had his greatest season ever after the coaches fit the offense to his skills there buddy. VY has and always will have horrible mechanics.

The real test is to see JJs motion when under pressure and he has to look to secndary receiver. He has always thrown well with time to stare down the primary receiver.

quote:Yes, it was. Too long a delivery gave defenses time to collapse on his intended WR.
Mechanics weren't JJ's major problems.
Bad release points caused the ball to be under and overthrown.
Same with footwork.

2002...you really just dont pay attention, at all.
WHUT>>>>>Tebow went from a marginal pick to a top pick and NFL starter when he got his tune up. Vince Young went from a good player to a great player after fixing his motion.

By the way, his video is showing the underclassmen, not JJ.

Umm... no, he didn't.
He stated numerous times that he spent the entire offseason working on mechanics and arm strength.

I dont see that at all. I see JJ as sucking equally on almost all throws. (and I think he should start BTW) Mainly because his footwork was bad and his mechanics were bad, overthrows are a pretty good sign of bad mechanics.

Are we talking college or pro ball here, because last I checked what JJ does in the pros doesn't mean jack right now.
Both of those guys may have improved their mechanics slightly, but those weren't the reasons they blew up on offense. They blew up because the offenses were adjusted to their skills.
I can only hope the LSU offenses will actually take advantage of their players skills and talent.
