Quit accepting the illiterate cow bowl/cotton bowl/etc. just because they are bowls we would have loved to go to ~20 years ago. I am not old enough to fully remember the "bad" years with Curly and Dinardo, but it has absolutely nothing at all to do with what happens now.

Just because we had bad years, and loved the fact that we even got to play in a bowl, does not mean we have to settle for mediocrity now. And no, this younger generation is not made up of bandwagon fans that hopped o after the 2003 season.

If you can't acknowledge the fact that LSU has won TWO championships in the past few years and is now an elite program (yes, we are an elite college football program), then go cheer for a school that settles for a ho-hum bowl every year. Anything less than SEC championships is a let down season.

In the 90's we weren't paying 4mil a year for a coach. We should expect better for that money.

We don't pay $4M now for our coach.

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell was going on with the play calling during the La Tech game. I mean, SURELY that was just GC and LM trying to get JL to respond. How could you be so stupid to not just run the ball at least once in a possession? Kicking a 50 yard field goal with a 4th and 1 with 4 min left? I just don't get it...it HAD to be some part of a bigger plan.

and so is the rest of the SEC. Tickets are also cheaper than the good SEC teams. We're not going to win it every year in the SEC...every team has a good coach now

It's not settling, it's supporting your team. I spent 8 years at LSU, and I don't have any other team to cheer for. I show up to games and cheer for my Tigers because I love being on campus and I love the circumstance that surrounds the games. I don't boo or say we should fire the coaches because IT IS GAME. A dumb arse game, due to inability to constantly enforce the rules, that isn't played with a round ball. That means it doesn't always bounce your way. We've had success and I was proud. We fight though adversity, and I remain proud. It's not time to pack it up and fire everyone in the hopes that we get what you think we deserve. It's NEVER time for that. It's cyclical in nature, and you have to believe that we will be back to fight harder the next time. It's game played by 20 year olds. We won on veteran leadership, and we lose when we don't have that. I don't see why you think the sky is falling. It's LSU. If you think bitching and moaning will lead to more wins, go ahead. I don't think it works. We have to hope our boys gain the confidence that comes through overcoming adversity. If they don't, they still did us proud by trying.

wow, really? say we go 10-2 and go to a cotton or any Jan 1 or 2 bowl, you think thats a "down season"? Hell, even if we go 9-3 and win the bowl game i wouldn't consider it a "down season". 8-4 would be, but not 9+ wins (with a chance to win 10). if that happened year in and year out for say 5 years, then yeah i can see it. but not two years removed from a NC. I understand last year is defiantly effecting people’s opinions (and rightfully so) but i don't think things are near as bad as some people are making it out to be.

once again what is mediocre about being 8-2 and #10 in the country?

you have started a similar thread LINK before. We get it, you don't like Miles

I agree that many of our fans seem quite happy and content with mediocrity. 10-2 should no longer be acceptable for a powerhouse like LSU, yet many who lived through the 80's and 90's are absolutley giddy about being second best in the west and third best in the conference! Its probably just individual personality that governs your level of contentment with being just average, but its still hard to accept.

I mostly agree. We are an elite program and we have to be disappointed if we don't make it to the SEC Championship. We're at the level where's it realistic for our goal at the start of the season to be an SEC Championship appearance. You can only hope for any more than that though.

That being said, this season has gone as good as I could have expected or predicted at the beginning of the year. I said we'd lose one of Florida and UGA and one of Bama and Ole Miss. It just hurts how we lost this year considering we had realistic opportunities to win each game (especially Bama).

I'm personally happy where the record is, its just hard to feel really good about this team when we get beat soundly by the good teams and struggle to beat many of the really bad ones. The offense is in the same place as the defense was last year and its hard to imagine it getting better with drastic changes being made. I just dont get the feeling Miles is feeling the heat about the offense this year as he was about the defense last year. I have my doubts any changes will be made due to this. Next year will likely feature the same staff (short of anyone getting hired out, ala Porter) and I would expect a similar result...which is in fact, unacceptable. I am of the opinion that Crowton has got to go, and if he does not, then Miles needs to go.

Im probably just a bit older than you. I am old enough to fully remember the dinardo years and just a bit of the curley. The reason why people bring it up is because idiots believe that 10-2 with a top tier new years day bowl is mediocre when it isnt. Dinardo was mediocre he made three bowls and choked when we should have been great. We were clemson under Tommy bowden. That is mediocre. 10-2 consistantly and constantly in the hunt for the sec is elite. Im sure you would consider USC elite. They havent done better than that since matt leinart. We are not mediocre.

Actually I agree with Zack to a point. We are going to have about as many good and bad years, and the good ones will have us in the SEC championship game. But everytime we have a down year, people need to stop saying crying that the world is ending and that it means we are inevitably sliding into "mediocrity" back to the 90s with Curly and Dinardo.

Dude get real. 10-2, ranked #8, and second in the west to the #2 team is not "just average".
