La. has always been caught up in the us vs them game. R's and D's in the State are both corrupt and only interested in fooling the people.

Other States (including mine) have budget issues but don't have nearly as hard a time coming together to get it fixed. Holding LSU hostage for this is chicken shite rookie ball stuff.

This is what pissed me off so much about Bobby. He made no attempt at all to work to fix problems. He made one half assed attempt at seeing if closing some four year colleges would work, and tucked his tail and ran at the first sign of any conflict. It was all about his national image.
He put John Alero in a position of power and then surrounded himself with all yes men and just gave up on doing anything worth a shite. Totally gave up.

Well, he certainly dropped the hammer.
He has struck a nerve where it's hurts the most: No football.
It took huge nuts to try this and I kind of respect him for playing hardball.

I'm a vet and a republican.....but let's be honest, Ole Bobby completely fricked our higher education system. There is lots of work to be done and JBE isn't beating around the bush.
I'm interested to see where this goes.....

Hopefully enough normal people call his bluff and expose what he's trying to do. LSU football is not something he really is going to be able to cut funds too.

The idiots on the SEC Rant apparently think LSU is 2 billion dollars in debt. Just imagine our campus and programs if we blew through that much money. It would be epic.

Actually, jlntiger, he struck down every voice that opposed him from power and installed 'yes men' at every level to ensure his surreal cuts. Educate yourself about the reality beyond the constitution.....which was ignored and bypassed at every turn. Be real, man!

I want my own kids to be LSU Tigers, but I feel like I'd be cheating their future to let them go there now under the current conditions.

frick me, I sound like a democrat

Notiger1997,
I totally agree. There is no chance in hell that football goes away.

But I think has accomplished his goal already.....he's got everyone talking about it.

if this situation wasn't so depressing, i'd be relishing in the ability to come back here relatively soon (April 30th) and see the looks on all your faces when your Republican representatives either agree to raise taxes or let the pride of your existance (LSU football) waste away because of 8 years of Republican policies...

If you think JBE is bluffing, there is no way he could be. Payroll for a major university is a pretty easy thing to predict. He knows what the state spends monthly each year. He also knows what's left in funding to put towards funding LSU, and how much money is coming in per month in taxes. It's easy algebra.

Don't be so daft...

Loll of you morons blaming Jindal for education cuts read the La constitution. A governor can only cut healthcare and education. There is so much other waste that should be cut but can't without a new constitution. But sure lets blame the guy who actually shrunk the state government and vote for JBE. The typical Louisiana voter is so uneducated on the real issues

Surely the guy who's been in office for 3 weeks is more to blame.

Go play in traffic. LSU football is safe.
Now the academic side of things at LSU and the other state schools will get cut even more and slide to be even shittier than they were, but that can't be changed in the short term.

Didn't blame JBE, however his address tonight and threats in it show his true colors. just said LA is stuck with him and deserve what they get. Hey let's allow healthy people to get welfare without looking for jobs but threaten lsu football. Sure sounds like just what lsu needs. Hopefully he doesn't get his tax increases and the state government gets serious about fixing the problems by cutting waste in other areas.

Dude I shite you not. Guy on Facebook says its Obama's fault for purposely lowering gas prices so it could hurt some southern states. I understand it's only one person so far but he has 2 likes. 3 fricking idiots. These people are among us, they vote and unfortunately reproduce. Where do people come up with this stuff?

If he wants to do this, then start a petition to recall him. Get him out of office now!

He is definitely a big part of this equation, but this goes back to Blanco's tenure as well.

It's a threat to take away something people really care about. That way when he proposes drastic measures for something people are more accepting.

No one wants to be the governor that killed LSU football.
