Sounds to me that's exactly what we got... Two peas in a pod. I think we just need to blow the whole LA political system up and get us some new peeps in there. Mix it up with some common folks with common sense instead of a bunch of greedy, self-centered, political party puppets. Get some shrimpers, oil field workers, construction workers, rednecks, manufacturing facility workers (if you can find any around any more), and farmers. Then kick all them sellout lawyers with no morals or standards out. I guarantee you things would get better immediately.

I would like to assert the OP wasn't about R vs. D. or fiscal policy, in general.... Just the disdain for fear mongering and manipulating our state's people, who people of power think they can play like a fiddle because we're all imbeciles.

eta. now carry on

You're doing a lot of stereotyping here, Chief.

Where did I say anything about recession?

Answer this, Mr. Economist: the Fed raised interest rates in December. Does this usually happen during periods of relative market stability or volatility?

The Bank of Japan just lowered theirs to a negative interest rate. Banks in Europe are looking at the same. This isn't December, Jethro.

Yellen said today that Neg. interest rates were not off the table for the US. There are global economic issues that will affect the USA

Fear mongering is a powerful tool, because it works on simple minded people.

20 years ago Louisiana voted to allow a state lottery to fund TOPS. Why can't it still fund it?

Also, at no point did JBE say LSU football would be shutdown directly due to budget cuts. He said that if state universities were forced to close before the end of the semester, students would receive "incompletes", which would likely make players ineligible at football programs statewide. It'll never happen, and not just because of football, but it certainly caught the attention of plenty of people.[/quote]

Yeah, that's a fricking lie... And a scare tactic. A dirty, 1000% political POS move.

No, perhaps some controls should be put in place to have students pledge to pay it back if they leave the state and also TOPS should become a loan to be paid back if the student doesn't graduate.

Also, standards should be raised in terms of GPA and ACT score.

Remember, the people with the most income pay the most in state taxes. Truly rich send their children out of state for college. Means testing will hit the middle class the hardest. If jbe wants to be known for this, good luck to him.
