If this is truly the case, it seems that other football conferences and powerful people will do anything to stop LSU from winning a NC next year. They know we are on the fast track to winning the NC, so if you can't beat us, put us out of business for one year so we can't play. I bet the coaches would pay for any absolutely necessary things out of their own pockets and the players would accepts lesser perks just to play and see the NC brought back to LSU.

We need to get some powerful companies and sponsors not let this happen, because they would hate to see Alabama win a NC again... If this did happen, people would stop watching college football overnight.

They have know Idea what they are messing with...

i agree that some of this must be hyperbole, but it is probably worth noting that the threat to college sports actually came from the Commissioner of Higher Education (see above) who is not a JBE appointee. He was appointed by the Jindal appointed Board of Regents a couple years back. Everyone knows it would be stupid, but you can't blame the guy for repeating what the higher education people are saying.

That's not what the complaining is about. People are pissed off because JBE expanded Medicaid, removed the work requirement provision for welfare, but will now raise taxes. Surely you know that entitlement while free to those who take them, aren't really free. Working folks get the bill.

Why are they building a 30 million basketball facility at McNeese in Lake Charles which is going out for bids next week on the 17th.

No way this would be happening if things were this bad.

Smoke just like last year and new Gov. Bell "Bails" us out.

That means you can say farewell to college football next fall.

It is the "sky is falling" mentality. Look Mr Kennedy said what needed to happen after his doom and gloom dribble..cut needless jobs.

Also, have the balls to say "NO" to people who live only for the 1st and 15th of the month to work up the strength to walk to the mailbox!!!

Mr. Edwards is concerned about only one thing and that is letting those who work to make a living pay for those who do not! WE will be those paying for his 300,000 new medicare and SSI recipients.

Cuss Bobby Jindal all you want but the problem is trickle down effect from the guy in Washington.

I could go on & on about this typical f...ing democrat, but I won't. He's full of crap & is using scare tactics to further his liberal agenda.

Thanks Newell Normand, Jay Dardenne and other republicans who endorsed this POS.

LSU Football will be kicking off the season as usual, don't fall for these phony scare tactics.

He's not saying that lsu football is bankrupting. Hes saying the university is. Lau football can make millions but, without eligible students to play, you dont have a team. Get it?

What is funny to me is that JBE was on the committees that approved the budget prior to him being elected.

He is a part of this too, but the Grubers in Louisiana are going to attack Jindal.

This is awesome and right out of the Democrat Party playbook.

John Kennedy gets it, go listen to his counter to JBE on youtube. It's only two minutes long and well worth your time.

Lsu football being self sustaining has zero to do with it.

If the athletes have no classes to attend because school is shut down, they can't compete

JBE will be in the Governor's Suite in Tiger Stadium on Sept 10 for the home opener and for every other home game the next 4 years

That's a 100% fact just like its a 100% fact my taxes will go up

I don't believe this one bit. This is political theatre and a scare tactic to push through higher taxes and any other progressive reform he wants to pursue.

I believe he maybe an idiot and crook, but he's not full blown retard. If he's gonna shut down LSU football and higher education, he should also tax crawfish $20 a bag, outlaw Mardi Gras, and ban the Cajun French dialect.. That's all just as realistic.

only thing that's ever stopped LSU football was yellow fever in 1897

quote:

The 1897 LSU Tigers football team represented the LSU Tigers of Louisiana State University during the 1897 college football season. Coach Allen Jeardeau returned for his second but final year at LSU in 1897 for two games in Baton Rouge. A yellow fever outbreak throughout the South caused the postponement of LSU's classes starting, and the football season being cut back to only two games.

If nothing is done, LSU would close its doors April 30th. With no students, no football.
