How is the tailgate down there? How do they treat visiting fans?

They are obsessed with LSU so they can be a little hostile to LSU fans. It can be miserable if they win, because they don't know how to handle it. Hot, dumb, slutty girls and lots of fratbros. The grove is nice, but it is jam-packed into a much smaller area than I anticipated. For big games it can be hard to move around. Food isn't up to LSU's level. They care more about having a nice table-cloth and a candelabra and then pick up chicken nuggets and finger sandwiches from Walmart.
All in all it's worth seeing at least once

I have never been to Ole Miss before, but am going this November.

Looking forward to the experience, and a big Tiger win.

We are their Super Bowl. They think they are better than everyone as people. It's the snobby culture they grew up in. The grove is an overrated game of sardines. You can't drink beer.

I feel like the older OM fans have this passive-aggressive hate for LSU.

The OM fans around my age are the delusional type.

Only if you're an arse. They expect LSU fans to act like the camo croc wearing population that we've earned. Act like an adult and you should have a good time.

I live in Jackson and grew up in MS. Work with them, friends with them, live around them. They hate LSU more than MSU yet deep down envy the success that LSU has had, and respect LSU. They think they should be or can be the caliber of LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn. They take this jealousy/envy out on LSU the most because LSU is their historical "rival" that has kind of risen to another level.

For the most part they have good and bad fans just like anywhere else. The bad ones will be really Ole Missy to you as an LSU fan. If you don't act like a an idiot they'll rag you a bit, but not too bad. Just a lot of hey "corn dogs" and "hottie toddies".

Parking sucks. Get there early.

Be prepared to hear all manner of Corndog jokes. They think they invented it and that it is the most hilarious thing you can say to an LSU fan.

The Grove is vastly overrated, but all in all the trip is pretty fun.

I will add that it is the worst place to experience a loss as an LSU fan now that I think about it. They give it to the most of any other fan base after a loss. They even give it to you in TS if you sit in the South End Zone after a loss. I was in Oxford in 98 when they beat us in OT on Halloween. They ragged me the same way in TS after they beat us in 2001. They can be awful.

Have been to OM many times and been treated awfully each time, completely unprovoked. "Don't act like an arse and you won't get treated like one" did not hold true for me or the small group I went with at all, on any visit.

My fave was the elderly man that called my friend and I "a bunch of pu$$ies." Or the fratbro that grabbed me by my collar and told me to shut up for daring to cheer a good play by the Tigers in a game where we were being crushed with no chance of winning. Or the gal wearing a rebel flag as a skirt that cursed us and slurred "LSU sucks, go to a real school" about 2 inches from my face.

They are white trash in white linen and although a spectacle, the whole scene is completely overrated. Their delusion about everything - history, tradition, winning, the "class" of their fanbase - knows no bounds. Will never go back to that hellhole.

From what I remember, drinking beer out of a can isn't allowed in the grove. It has to be in a cup. I'm fairly sure that the dry county law is lifted on gamedays

It is not a dry county but yes oxford sucks. They used to only sell hot beer in stores but they lifted that about two years ago and sell cold beer.

I saw students harassing a 12 year old, saying he would be working for them...and of course corndog jokes.

Smoking hot chicks, overload of douche frat bros, bars close at 12, horrible parking, 2% of tailgates play music, smoking hot chicks, tons of corn dogs, bad attitude when they lose, smoking hot chicks, grove is pretty nice, cops will check your ice chests. Worth a trip once.
