The Grove is the definition of over-rated. WalMart chicken And finger sandwiches. Good to go once I guess but I always find it humorous to hear how great the grove is. Please. Like being in a can of sardines

How is the tailgate down there?

What they do isnt tailgating.

No music
No open flames, aka no cooking
No "open container", drink must be in a solo cup or in ice chest
Only catered food
No originality except for those dumbass decorations and chandeliers
Pre-set up commercial tents
Tents budged up next to eat other, packed like sardines.
Cant claim a spot until midnight.
Oh an 95% of those pompus hillbillies are douches.

It was ridiculous and over the top bad.

Was there 2 years ago. Great tailgating experience but can't sniff LSU. Rough place to experience a loss. Still that comes with the territory of SEC football. Going this year. Looking for a win.

I've had nothing but great times, but I could see why people wouldn't if you don't know anyone from Ole Miss going into the visit.

And yes, the hate is strong. Still I didn't get harassed or anything after the jefferson spike or mett's pic palooza night in 2013

Sums it up for me. I've met some good Ole Miss fans, and had some good times in Oxford. But that is not the norm for me, and frankly, an away game in Oxford is not in my top five favorite trips.

Tailgating in Starkville, for instance, is 100x better, and so are the State fans.

They are obsessed with LSU so they can be a little hostile to LSU fans. It can be miserable if they win, because they don't know how to handle it. Hot, dumb, slutty girls and lots of fratbros. The grove is nice, but it is jam-packed into a much smaller area than I anticipated. For big games it can be hard to move around. Food isn't up to LSU's level. They care more about having a nice table-cloth and a candelabra and then pick up chicken nuggets and finger sandwiches from Walmart.
All in all it's worth seeing at least once

this is accurate. watch out for Cobra Security. They are nazis about the alcohol

The best way to explain OM is imagine Alabama coming into Baton Rouge. The way many LSU fans feel about Alabama is how Ole Miss fans feel about LSU, but worse.

Someone tried to fight me but that could have happened anywhere so I chalk that up to a drunk and dumb moment for him. It's great if you've never been. You feel like a king with all the hate you receive.

Don't have thin skin and enjoy the scenery. Been numerous times and never really had a problem (win or lose).

It's definitely not as bad as Gainesville, of course, nothing is that bad.

Yep, been 4 times for games and always had a great time, never any problems.

It's just a different style of tailgating. it's still really fun and some setups are kind of silly, but it's fun to take it all in.

i see tons of LSU fans well dressed, but most sure as hell can't wear overly nice attire given the tailgating scene is so spread out. I always walk a few miles to multiple tailgates on gameday

Ole Miss is not a terrible tailgating experience, but in my opinion definitely overrated.

So, tailgating is overrated, but what does the bar scene look like after the game? Is the square worth going to?

You can drink beer as long as you have it in a cup, not in a can.

That is insane... But this will most likely be a one-time trip, so I guess I'm in.
