Mrs. Gumbeaux and I are flying in on Friday the week before the game and leaving Sunday after the game. We are staying with my son and his wife who live in LA. They moved there a year ago and this is our first chance to visit them.

Our plans are to spend two days and a night in Palm Springs, visit Joshua Tree National Park, take a Warner Bros. tour, go to Disneyland, go to Santa Monica Beach, and generally drive around sightseeing including Laurel Canyon

For those asking about parking... I usually take the train (Gold Line) into Pasadena. There's a bus shuttle within walking distance of the "Memorial Park" Gold Line stop, that goes to the Rose Bowl during games. It's always been free whenever I've gone to games there.

It's a long line, but it moves pretty quickly as they have a ton of busses on a constant traffic free loop.

For those flying into LAX, get ready for the ongoing construction/renovations. Traffic is a clusterf*ck!

I was planning on going but my wife and I are moving out of this state! I've never been more happy to watch a game on TV in my life.

I am told there are no bars near the Rose Bowl,. I am also told that getting a plastic flask in to the stadium is pretty easy.

Don't forget that pot is legal here. You can take that shite anywhere. Probably worth loading up on some gummies while you're in town.

For those of you who are Costco members, we got a room at the Hilton Los Angeles - Universal City and a rental car bundle. It cost us $913 for the hotel and car together. The hotel seems like it’s in a great area, a half mile from universal studios (and all the restaurants on the city walk) and 10 minutes from all of the big Hollywood places. It’s about 25 minutes from the stadium. That price is for Thursday-Monday.

We’re also thinking about going to the Hollywood bowl to see a concert Friday or Sunday. John Williams is conducting an orchestra playing a bunch of his movie music.

Bruin2010, thanks for the info. Can you shoot me some information about the tailgating scene on the golf course? Do you have to use a company to organize your tailgate and set it up?

Burbank is the way to go. Smaller airport, easy to get in and out of, easy access to the 5 and closest to Pasadena.

Pro tip for driving in LA traffic, get in the slow lane and stay there. Fastest way through. Follow a truck, they know wuzup and take every space you need, drive rude and never ask for permission. It'll make your experience that much better.

Tailgating on the golf course is open to everyone who parks there, after you enter and pay you will get directed by the parking attendants to a spot, it's just rows of cars parked directly on the grass. People usually set up their easy ups and grills in front of their cars or in any open spot they can find, it's pretty easy and no kind of registration or anything like that is necessary. As you might imagine, the course itself isn't a great one to play in the fall, it's not uncommon to find beer cans in the bunkers the day after.

We are contemplating making the trip. What would be my options for going from the Disneyland area to the rose bowl. Was thinking of letting the wife and daughter do Disneyland while me and my son go to the game.

From SLC, flying into Burbank early Saturday - 7:30 am. Ubering to the Rose Bowl. Might try to find a course in Pasadena to go play a quick 9, lunch and onward is tailgating/hanging around the stadium.
