As far as flights go, Long Beach and Burbank are limited in to and from flights to Louisiana, as well as double the price (typically). Trust me, I fly way more than I want to between California and Louisiana.

I mentioned this in another thread, but the road team alumni associations usually have a hosted pregame party at the clubhouse for Brookside golf course, right in the middle of the main tailgating areas. Something to look into if you want TVs and a full bar close to the stadium.
You can technically spend the afternoon in Old Town and walk a mile or so to the stadium, but the tailgate experiences on the golf course or lot H are a pretty unique setting in college football, I would recommend either renting a car and setting up your own tailgate or find someone who is hosting one.
I'm happy to answer any other questions about the gameday experience if you have them.

AA flies direct DFW-BUR which you can connect to from BTR, LFT and all other Louisiana airports. A quick check for the weekend showed MSY-BUR on AA with a connection in Phoenix for $315. Not saying it's easier to find flights over LAX, but ONT and SNA are gonna have you way away from Pasadena

You're looking strictly at mileage from airport to Pasadena. I guarantee you the drive from John Wayne and/or Ontario is less time wise than LAX.
Burbank is the most feasible if you can find a flight. I'd avoid American though. as American will more than likely cancel or delay tf out that flight. Especially if it's through Dallas or Houston.

AA has pissed me off so much that even though I live in their largest hub I go out of my way to fly other airlines whenever possible. Couldn't agree with you more there. I'm personally flying into LAX and we're going to hit the beach on Friday before going to the hotel. Where we're staying BUR was the best option followed by LAX.

should we warn the UCLA threads that
because we're gonna need all the alcohol available

Burbank/Ontario are your best two LAX alternatives, actually two of the easiest in/out in CAL.

Flying out of MSY on Tuesday, Aug 31 (unless I change to Monday) to LAX and driving to LV for a couple of days before coming back to the Pasadena/Arcadia area on Thursday. Return flight to New Orleans is early on Sunday.

You should change that flight to MSY-LAS and then either drive one way or take a cheap flight from LAS to Los Angeles, that itenirary sounds wild!

opefully this doesn't turn into another Nashville/Syracuse where they start running out

LAX should be much quicker to Pasadena than SNA.

Should I try and get a flight into Burbank instead of LAX? We land right now around 8:30 local time that Thursday night. Gonna have to be American unfortunately

it's actually cheaper to fly into LAX than LAS to be honest especially since I'm coming back on Sunday. Believe me, I did a ton of pricing before deciding to fly into LAX.

not sure where you're staying, but LAX shouldn't be too bad then. Traffic is everywhere in LA.

Depends on where you're staying. Unless you're flying an airline that'll let you change easily and cheaply, I'd keep the LAX flight. By the time you get off the plane and into a taxi/car/uber it'll be 9:30 so you won't have to worry about traffic.

Definitely wouldn't worry about changing your flights then

I was blown away at how nice Manhattan Beach is.
Yeah, it’s pretty awesome. I went there at least once per quarter for work for five years - especially loved it in the Summer when it was 105 in Austin.
Love & Salt is one of my favorites there.
