Yes, I don't get this unless it is an attempt to sell a few more tickets, but I am not a fan of the bands anyway. I don't have a problem with them and enjoy the fight songs at home, but the halftime shows...not so much.

Was thinking the same thing. What has changed in the last decade or so that has made this such a hazard. Don't remember anyone getting assaulted by a tuba.

Nobody is stopping their full band from travelling. They just don't get to go on the field. Their fans should love it if it means more tickets available

I don't buy the safety issue thing. Opposing bands been performing without issue for as long as we've had games. They probably just got tired of bama bringing their whole band and cranking out tunes in the south endzone for 30 minutes after they beat us.

Another thought: isn't this going to add to entertainment costs or whatever since they'll have to find something else to fill the rest of halftime? Or would they just play music and let them just sit there?

Does this mean we get time for two more Latino and Motown songs?

What if we didn't let them in the stadium at all? What if we didn't even allow them on campus? At what point would the synapses in your tiny brain allow you to realize that they are not getting enough value out of the trip to justify $120,000?

That is precisely my point. What value is there in the trip for a band to play on the field in the first place? If it is a money thing, playing at Tiger Stadium at halftime isn't worth $120,000 anyway.

Just say we want to sell more tickets. That's better than the dumb excuse they put out there

you think we let their band members fill the seats for free? Dumbass.

I marched in Alabama's Band for 4 years and played in Death Valley twice, and I have to say that the whole safety issue is pretty dumb. Yeah we're close to the stands during halftime but outside of the usual booing and the occasional middle finger nothing bad ever happened, and believe me we know how much y'all LOVE the Million Dollar Band.

I'm not buying the AD's reasoning. This sucks because the LSU Bama game is one of the few away games we look forward to every other year. Especially this upcoming year.

I don't know the reason, but all the schools pay for the same amount of Tickets. If they choose to bring only their pep band, that's their choice and more seats go to non band members.

It's total BS. Even though we all hate bama's band having them there adds to the atmosphere. Plus booing them when they take the field is always fun. But having two good loud bands in tiger stadium is pretty cool and we won't see that anymore for a while

Ruining the game and the traditions bit by bit. You may not like marching bands, you may think it's a throw back to a day gone by. Give it time, though, they will change or eliminate anything if it makes money. The game is nothing but a coincidental occurrence to the money quest.
