We now have the most assholish administration in the history of this school. I strongly believe in the maxim "you reap what you sow", and those in control seemingly don't care about anything other than themselves and money, and using deception to accomplish their objectives reminds me of another administration on a much larger scale.

If you've read the most recent article in the Advocate, just remember that everything they say about "safety" is total BS. As I noted in my first post on p. 5, last year the Auburn band was initially told they couldn't perform because a "guest artist" was supposed to perform with the LSU band and that would take up the entire halftime. (I initially couldn't remember the exact excuse, but I've recently had it confirmed that this was indeed the excuse given.) When the "guest artist" cancelled (and I would write a whole 'nother thread about the athletic department's bungled handling of this issue), initially it looked like the Auburn band would be able to perform after all. It was ONLY THEN that they were told that there was a safety issue about so many people being on the sidelines and thus they wouldn't be able to perform.

So, again, all this talk about "revisiting" the issue and huddling with Risk Management to come up with "a solution" is so much window dressing. They've basically gotten their asses in a sling oven this issue and might be trying to figure out a way to walk this back while saving some face.

What is so frustrating about this is how the decision to do this was made. This article from The Morning Advocate: LINK

Eddie Nunez, whoever the hell he is, explains, the risk management team, whoever the hell they are, says it's necessary, and - get this - the rule was in place last year. No public request for input.

There were "a couple of incidents" in the past. Well, what the hell happened? The public can't be told what they were and why this asinine decision is the only solution to some secret danger?

I said earlier that the bureaucrats were taking over. This happens in Washington every day. The public be damned.

There was no safety issue. It was cost cutting measure. Thought was, if we ban opposing bands from marching at halftime, then maybe they'll do it to us, and then funds wouldn't have to be spent sending the full GBFTL to an away game.

Something to think about...
With the new policy, TGBFTL will perform first, then the visiting band. What happens if the visitors take too much time at half? In normal stadiums, if the bands run over the time at half the home team is penalized (which makes a little sense since they are on the field last) so what will happen if Bama brings full band, performs second and runs over the time allotted...does LSU get penalized? The fans would go ape shite if this happened

YES......LSU would get the penalty because the home team ALWAYS gets the penalty. Proof that Joe Alleva, et al are morons.
