It's likely gonna be USM.

State's pitching situation is such that it would take a minor miracle for them to beat the Golden Eagles twice tomorrow.

Moo state since Southern Miss is better.

But if Moo state wins two I guess that means they are better.

So...... F it.

I'll take USM over the coach that knows the ins and outs of our current roster better than any other in the nation. Sure we swept them, but it's had to keep those percentages up in baseball.

Give me USM

Hope state wins first game so both teams use up more arms

I'll take either one in the box. Bring it on

They'll have ample time to rest between that and the Supers.

The law of averages say that you don't want to face MSU again

Which way do you want to look at it?

I could frame it where the law of averages say that you don't want USM.

Way I look at it, USM might have the better overall team, but Miss State has the better potential to go off in a 3 game series. I have a fear that Rooker would wreck our pitching this time around. I'll take whoever comes seriously.

USM will not be intimidated by the Box. This is a damn good baseball team that will be a tough team to beat. If we play like last night we will be fine but if we play like games 1 and 2 they could beat us.

They have a great group of fans and travel very well. Very nice people that know baseball. For some reason they really don't like Coach Berry

I'd like to see Southern come to the box. A lot of USM fans in S. Miss are also LSU fans.

Man, some of you are over valuing the venue. Stony Brook never faced an environment like the Box and they THRIVED. Not saying it doesn't make a difference, but let's dial that argument back a bit.

Secondly, and to answer the OP's question, USM is far and away a better team than MSU. Good pitching, great hitting, good-average fielding. They can pile up runs with a quickness. 12-6 (66%) against top 50 teams, RPI of 8 and have won 17 of last 19 games. MSU is 16-18 against top 50 teams (47%) w/ RPI of 23.

I want MSU at the Box.

USM Road games/venues of note:

-Oxford (Ole Miss)
-Tuscaloosa (Alabama)
-Houston (Rice) x3
-New Orleans (Tulane)
-Lafayette (ULL) x3
-Pearl (Minor league stadium) x2
-Mobile (South Alabama)
-Biloxi (Minor league stadium) x6

If Moo St. were to force 2 games today, not sure where S.Miss's pitching would be with the first game set for Friday. Only 4 days rest for the staff.

I'd rather play Moo State. Very suspect pitching, & as good as their 1-5 hitters are...their 6-9 hitters are not very good at all. Josh Smith, Beau Jordan, Paps, & Coomes/Slaughter literally blow their 6-9 hitters out of the water. Our 1-5 hitters even have better numbers than their 1-5 hitters.

They match up horribly against LSU in a best of 3 series.

Yeah, this would be an ideal situation. We cruised through our regional with our starters getting their work in, and not really stretching our bullpen. Whoever we get, we want them to play two games today, as our guys are resting, and they will be stretching arms.

Dude, we went like 6 innings without a hit and 7 without a run. Thank God Walker and Hess were fantastic.

State because the guy in the opposing dugout appears to be the most motivating thing in the world for Coach Mainieri.
