Why are people concerned with this? if the guy starts winning like Saban he will be paid accordingly. In fact if he keeps missing on our biggest recruits he should be let go! The fan base for the most part does support him. He just needs to start beating bama at least bi yearly along with not losing games like OM and making games like Ark so close. I'm not one to praise the man for losing our best instate guys and losing to OM when OM was extremely beat up. Losing the recruits this year may not have been the staffs fault but we need to go after the next best guy just as hard to mayb stress to these guys LSU is a place guys want to be and if you want to be here than show us you do. It's time LSU shows loyalty to the ones that deserve it and not the wrong guys! If that's an oos guy so be it. Need to show our instate guys that it pays to be loyal to LSU!

We as tiger fans have all of a sudden become spoiled rich kids. The fact that damn near every year miles been here, the football program has been exceptional. Tiger fans want to play with the big dogs and not pay like the big dogs is incredible. I mean, I wasn't happy about the ole miss loss, but in the end were still had a legit chance to at least play for the sec championship. For Miles to be the 5 highest paid coach in the conference is insulting, especially with the coaches in front of him with the exception of one. Do fans realize since that man been here we've been one of the most successful college football teams in the country. I live in Arkansas now, and my bro law tells me all the time we don't know how good we have it at LSU. My son is eleven years old and tell me, dad LSU is always good. So with that and for what coach Miles have sustained

Figure in taxes and Agent, he makes about $2.5?

It's not LSU's concern what he does with his salary. His salary is before taxes and agents, period!

Other stupid things in this thread...

Honoring a contract does not mean serving it out until the end. If a coach quits, mid-contract, he needs to do whatever the contract specifys he should do upon quitting. If so, he's honored the contract.

What should Miles make? Whatever Sumlin, Muschamp, etal are making is only tangentially related. It's the market for Les Miles that matters. And Les is getting too old, given his level of success, to be in demand. So LSU doesn't have to pay him more. And that's the end of the story. His win/loss record compared to some young coach doesn't matter. It's all about bargaining power. Even if Les wins the natty this year, who's going to hire a coach in his 60's (unless he's dominant).

You are right!

No school would have any interest in hiring a coach with a nine year history of the most wins in the BCS and SEC. Leading the west in titles and the SEC in titles. Playing for two BCS titles in the last six years and winning 83% of his games in the last four years while having to play a eight game SEC schedule.

How fricking retarded are you!

Retarded enough to know that with the way Miles runs red lights and stop signs in BR( recent ESPN interview with chick reporter in SUV) he may not be around long enough to collect another raise.

Miles keeps sliding further down in Pay

I think it shows how desperate some schools or maybe all schools, on the whole, are becoming to have successful football teams.

It's amazing to me that A&M would put out that kinda money to increase the pay of a coach who is yet to sniff the west crown or a BCS bowl game.

Franklin might turn out to be great, but 4.5 mil for a 24-15 coaching record??? Are you freaking kidding me!

This stuff going on in college football just shows how very lucky LSU has been since 2000.

Miles seems content with his recent contract upgrade and if he wasn't, I have little doubt LSU would add to it and be happy do so with his results and the big gamble any coaching search brings to the table.
