I agree Braveheart! Time to give Les another raise. We cant have other sec coaches who haven't won anything making more than LSUs head coach. It makes us look cheap.

Think again.

Oh so Miles has to abide by Civil Service rules and his job must be posted when open and governed by the State Employee hiring guidelines???? How many weeks of vacation does he qualify for?

I don't know but I guarantee hes the states highest paid employee. Most states its the football coach, in some its the basketball coach. Just because your ignorant of something doesn't mean it isn't true.

If Miles' salary isn't among the top 5 in college football, he is underpaid. Fact.

First let me say I am not in favor of a payraise at this point because there is no reason to give one. He is not looking to go elsewhere.

The idiotic things in this thread is that most posting in this thread think that his record of accomplishments are like a checklist for value. They have little to do with it.

Any coaches value is how much "someone" is willing to pay him. That someone is not necessarily his current employer. Therefore if College A comes in next year and ponies up 5.5 mil a yr then you have to decide if you are willing to call or raise. Texas put a big screwin to Bama in raising Sabans pay by 40% on a two game losing streak... Do you think Saban would have gotten a raise if nobody was knockin at the door? Other schools realize that their coach is underpaid and hence is wide open for someone to steal and therefore chuck in some more change to keep the others at bay...

10+ wins a year in the SEC for nine yrs is probably worth $4.5mil a yr for most folks. So if major program comes in next season and offers Miles $5.5 mil then how much are you willing to cough up or do you start over... and if you start over what would be your expectation?

Win an SEC Championship and he deserves a raise.

Win a National Championship and he deserves a big raise.

He has to earn it like the rest of us earn our paychecks.

Didn't we finish about fifth in the SEC? Sounds like his compensation is well matched with his performance.

Miles keeps sliding further down in Pay and I know some people think it is great! With Visor Boy getting a $700,000 raise and even Franklin getting $4.5 Million at Penn State Miles is not keeping up. He is now 5th in Pay in the SEC with the Midget and the other two clowns (S&M) and now Visor Boy ahead of him. Seems like the going rate now is $4.5 to $5.0 Million a year with the Midget on top with his $7 Million Texas Holdup!! I would think Miles should be at least be even with S&M at $5 Million?

Well, this could not have been presented in a more mature manner...

All it takes is 6 schools to believe this about their coach. It leads to ever-increasing pay raises until the cost is crippling. It is a vicious cycle.

I do not understand why Miles' pay is not far more incentive-based. So many wins equals so much pay. Factor in something for graduation rates, attendance, etc.

He participates in "retirement and fringe benefit programs available to all UNIVERSITY employees."

I don't know how much more of a state employee he could be.
