Has Spurrier even beaten Miles one single time?

I love when people try to make a point by spouting off incorrect things. It really brings home a solid point.

Miles should do what anyone one of us does at work-evaluate whether he is being fairly compensated and then either stay or seek employment elsewhere.

Clearly, he is not being fairly compensated at LSU, because coaches who have won far less, have no SEC titles, and no Nat Championship appearances or victories, are making more. He may choose to finish out is career here because of his age and time invested, but he would almost certainly receive more money from another institution.

He is the highest paid person in the state of Louisiana. We should demand excellent results and have consistent high expectations. If we are not winning championships he is overpaid.

1. Auburn (12-2, 7-1 SEC; last ranking: 1): The Tigers lost a heartbreaker to Florida State in the Vizio BCS National Championship, but they did exactly what Gus Malzahn predicted: make the biggest turnaround in college football. Auburn had the nation's best running game behind Heisman Trophy finalist Tre Mason and a championship attitude that grew all season. The future looks very bright on the Plains. 2. South Carolina (11-2, 6-2 SEC; LR: 3): With a 10-point victory over Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl, South Carolina became only the fourth team in the country to win at least 11 games in each of the past two seasons. The Gamecocks made a fun, end-of-the-year run at Atlanta but fell short with a loss to Tennessee and an equally as fun Missouri run. 3. Missouri (12-2, 7-1 SEC; LR: 4): These Tigers also had a magical 2013. After rebounding from a five-win 2012 season, Mizzou won the SEC East Division, displayed one of the conference's best, most explosive offenses and ended the season with a back-and-forth victory over Oklahoma State in the AT&T Cotton Bowl. Gary Pinkel went from the hot seat to beloved by erasing an ugly SEC debut with a stellar encore. 4. Alabama (11-2, 7-1 SEC; LR: 2): The Crimson Tide's SEC and BCS title game chances ended on a miraculous "Kick Six" by Auburn's Chris Davis in the Iron Bowl. With no national championship at stake for the first time since 2010, Alabama failed to match Oklahoma's toughness and intensity in its 45-31 Allstate Sugar Bowl loss. Despite another impressive regular season, the Tide's chance to make a case as the nation's best team ended inside the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. 5. LSU (10-3, 5-3; LR: 5): We never really knew what we were going to get from these Tigers (so many Tigers!), but after their loss to Alabama on Nov. 9, they closed the season on a tear with three straight wins. Even without starting quarterback Zach Mettenberger (ACL) for their bowl game, the Tigers grinded out a 21-14 Outback Bowl win over Iowa on the back of running back Jeremy Hill and his 216 yards and two touchdowns. LINK Not hating on Miles. Just pointing out the facts.

So do you think that Spurrier should be the second highest paid coach in the SEC? Clearly you are insinuating something to that effect since you try to post the standing from the last year as a guide to whether or not Les should get a raise.

South Carolina hasn't played in one single BCS bowl game since Spurrier has been the coach (9 seasons) and he has a conference record of 41-31.

Don't try to be cool and post the standings from last year and imply that Miles is right in line with his performance because we finished 5th in the SEC last year alone. Look at the body of work.

I'm not saying he deserves another raise right now, but with salaries getting as blown up as they are, it wouldn't blow my mind if he was given a bump in pay for putting a product on the field that consistently competes at the level LSU does and is in the National Championship hunt as much as LSU is.

As a Miles supporter, I don't think he deserves a raise.

I think he needs to win sec west or make it to playoffs to get raise. However, to say no raise unless national championship win is sooo dumb and thank God our AD isn't this dumb.

The head coach of the state football team is almost without exception the highest paid state employee. But only one person wins the Nat Championship per year. I guess this isn't really an LSU problem then is it?

I dont think Miles is classified as a state employee...

If the complainers on here dont want to pay the going rates then dont have the expectations of championships every three yrs... The market sets the pay scale not The Rant, TAF, or LSU butthurt fans.

If you look at the people who have passed Miles up and their accomplishments then Miles is meeting expectations. A raise would be determined on whether you want to continue on this path or to something else and belive me if he leaves without an exit strategy in place the program will be set back considerably.

I simply posted where teams finished last season. I didn't say one thing negative about Les. Anyway, just as it is with NFL players and coach's contracts, it's not like they are all up for renewal at the same time. When Les' re-eval is due you can guarantee LSU will pay him well. Don't be so uptight. Les isn't your dad is he?

He's not going to get another pay raise until he produces more and is more consistent, as it should be. Unfortunately for him he is also having to compete against Bama and not beating them year in and year out will be an issue. It doesn't get any easier with the rise of Auburn and having to play Florida every year. But 3rd in the west and losing to Ole Miss's practice squad is not going to get you a lot of Benjamin's.

LSU can barely make ends meet. Certainly can't afford to give Miles another raise.

Bottom line is according to salaries as of November 2013 Les was the 7th highest paid coach in CFB. LSU's composite rank over his 9 seasons at LSU is 10.1 (I factored a 26th rank for LSU's 2008 unranked season).

High marks: 1 NC, 2 BCS title trips, 5 top 10 finishes. A bowl appearance every season. 4 BCS bowl appearances.

Low marks: 2008 unranked season. Last 2 seasons finishing 14th.

X-factor: SEC is toughest conference and West is toughest division.

All that being said, Les is putting together a killer staff and despite a couple in state losses we have 4 players comitted who are #1 at their position based on various sites with more big names to come on NSD. So, honestly, there's nothing to worry about because this team is going to be good/great for some time and Les is going to be well compensated.

Didn't we finish about fifth in the SEC? Sounds like his compensation is well matched with his performance.
SEC 5. SEC West 3. 14th in the country. Ole Miss debacle. JennSwag Miracle to beat lowly R-Kansas. Struggled against slow Big10 team in Steak Bowl.

Yeah, raise and extend him up again Joey Boy.

I say I say I say, go see the Special Man. Let'em have It, with NOoooooo problem. (Remember the old Franky and Johnnies commercial)
