I have tried to not get involved with any "JJ" threads. I don't really get it. I don't get it at all.
Why has an average perfromer garnered all of this "Heisman hype"? I have to say, 100 percent Tiger fan that I am, that him being pushed for Heisman is an absolute joke. This is a guy that half of the fanbase wants starting behind a kid who has never played a down of real football for LSU and the other half is optimistically, yet blindly thinking is going to have a break-out season.
What has changed? He performed well in the bowl game with a month and a week to prepare. Great. I am optimistic as sometimes we're only as good as our last performance. His overall stats were meager. He's streaky. He's explosive, yet tentative. All of a sudden, a good performance in the Cotton Bowl has promoted him to Heisman hype?
I swear...being supportive and being a Tiger is one thing. Being completely assanine is another. I want to see the guy throw 20 for 25 for 225 yards and 2 TD and run for another 60...and I wanna see him do that for 3 games before I even think about putting this guy in the Heisman watch. And the Heisman has lost a lot of luster since 1990. We all know 3/4 players who win it amount to shite afterward, but then again, who cares about after?
I want JJ to play a Mauck-esque role this season, but likely he won't throw for nearly 30 td's as Matt did. In any case, Heisman is the wrong push. He's not the best player on our offense and what we should be rooting for is him making the other 5-6 playmakers in our offense better.

This is so fricking laughable. I really want to know WTF LSU and Miles is thinking. Part of me hopes he does even worse than last year so I can laugh at this even more later.

Hopefully, Les and Krag can get on the same page NOW and realize that LSU is a terrific pro-style, ru downhill over and playaction the shite out of an opponent team. We could have been that team for the last 1.5 seasons, but we wanted to establish a core identity that we didn't possess. The optioning and the plays that took weeks to unfold -- I don't get it. We had a 1,000 yard tb and some gifted wideouts, but we wanted Jefferson to be the playmaker. That was the mistake. Building an offense around a guy who wasn't stable.
I hope we learn and make Jefferson part of the plan, but not THE plan. He's gifted and he can make plays. He should have a much better season and we should see more GT, A&M, and Bama performances.

That's nice. Typical closet LSU hater. I guess you're also one who hopes we go 7-5 so we can fire Miles as opposed to winning.

Yet it's clear you strongly dislike Jefferson. Why would even part of you, as a Tiger fan, root for the most important position player on our offense to fail?

quote:Well I said part of me, the sadistic part to be sure. I simply think there would be an epic meltdown and hilarity would ensue. In my opinion LSU isn't using the best judgement in trotting JJ out there and it puts a lot of undue pressure on him, pressure I don't think he can handle. And if he does fail, I would laugh at the people in the Athletic Department who thought all this preseason hype was a good idea. That is all.
