First of all I never said I was a qb expert but it doesnt take an expert to see he is a horrible qb. He put up his statistics and he was the one who said he thinks he played fine after horrible performances last year. Or are you going to tell me that his performances against Vandy,MSU,West Va,Tenn, Fla,McNeese, ULM and Auburn were fine?
It doesnt take a mechanic to tell me if a car is not starting I can get in the car and turn the ignition. It takes a mechanic to fix it. I can see a player who has trouble throwing an accurate bubble screen, throws into double coverage often, at the feet of his receivers, behind them and over their head. I can look at competent qb's at other schools and from LSU's past and see a huge difference.
As for the school comment Big Sweet Ed I have been watching LSU qb's since 1970 so I have seen a few good ones and none that started for 2+ years were nearly as horrible as JJ.
You can talk abuot qb technique and philosophy all you want but it comes down to performance on the field and JJ's performance was pathetic last year. So talk about it all you want you can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig!

So the most vocal anti-JJ poster on this site doesn't know a fricking thing about qb's. Gotcha.
You make this easy.

He's not that far off of Matt Flynn who we lead us to a championship. His 2010 stats are terrible and no one can save face on those.
2010: 1,411 Yds, 7 TD, 10 INT, 114.7 Rating 56.5% Cmp. 108.5 YPG
2007: 2,407 Yds, 21 TD, 11 INT, 125.8 Rating, 56.3% Cmp. 200.6 YPG
There is no comparison.

Maybe you don't know how to read.
Longhorn said: "What makes you think he's gonna suddenly turn the corner and become an above-average, or even average QB after 2 seasons of sub-par play"
Then I showed one year of his stats that were not really sub-par. Hell if he had his 2009 stats last year LSU may have won a National Title.
Then I said: His 2010 stats are terrible and no one can save face on those.

This may be the worst thread in years.

Boy you like to twist and turn things sure you arent JJ?
I said I was not an expert on qb's. To make it simple for you I am not a qb coach or an offensive coordinator. I didnt say I didnt know anything about qb's.
Or are you going to tell me that Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, Dan Marino were not great qb's or I dont know enough to make that argument?
Feel free to prove to me JJ was anything but a horrible qb last year. I am sure you wont use his statistics which represent his actual performance.

Good point so I edited my post to say last year. I think in 2009 he was an average to below average qb held the ball way to long and didnt go through his progressions. For Big Ed that was what was told to me by a friend who is an offensive coordinator at the JUCO level. Also in his opinion Big Ed since I am not an OC he felt that JJ has many issues but mainly lack of comprehension of the offense, slow going through his progressions and defenses making adjustments after seeing him in 2009 that he was unable to adequately counter.

I don't need to prove anything. I'm an LSU fan. Fans support their teams.
You on the other hand are mentally challenged. Of course JJ is not Joe Montana... Who said he was? He is a good kid that our coaches have crowned starting QB. Any true fan would wish him the best, even if they don't expect the best from him.
It would make your blood boil for him to play well vs Oregon, because in your view, that gives him a chance to stink it
up later in the year.
News flash: Oregon is the real deal. They are not overrated. If JJ leads us to victory in the biggest opening game in all of CFB in a decade or longer, then he too is the real deal.

And FYI, the predictability of our plays was a larger problem than the execution of those plays.

Again I have said numerous times I expect JJ to play well against Oregon he has shown he can actually perform if given more than a week to learn a game plan.
Since when is pointing out we have a subpar performer at qb not being a fan. Is wanting to put a better player on the field to improve the teams chances of winning not being a fan? I know you are going to say how do I know Mett is better and my response is do you really think he will be worse than the 108th rated qb in the country? The guy gave Murray a battle and in my uninformed opinion and a huge host of others Murray is light years ahead of JJ!!!!!!!
Based on the other poster's wager would you care to bet on JJ's qb rating this year? I would be more than happy to wager a Caniac on it. Would love to lose but dont think I will.
Oh and do you really think a player who goes out of his way to blame others for his poor performances is a good kid??????

I have never defended his press statements. But to be honest, IDGAF what he says to the media. It's what he says and does behind closed doors that I care about.

2009 I would say JJ was an Average QB.
Yards: 9th
Cmp %: 2nd
TD: 6th
Int: 4th
Rat: 5th
TD/Int Ratio: 5th
(I have an Excel sheet to verify this information).

I will give you he was an average qb in 2009 CajunFootball. I think DC's made some adjustments after seeing him and JJ was not able to counter in 2010 with the exception being when he was given 2 or more weeks to prepare.
Posted on 6/15/11 at 1:40 pm to Rudy40
His 2009 stats weren't that bad. He took less attempts then most everyone else in the conference and was able to lead us to victory more times then not.
2010 teams knew how to play him a lot better and he was less effective. This year he has to learn to stay in the pocket and make the tough passes. If not..it'll be another long year.

Seems like the new wager of choice is a Caniac. From this day forward all TD disputes shall be settled with bets of Canes!

I have been told that if the season started today, Mett is a distant third behind JJ and JL. What part of that is a lie?
