True, but I'm not sure he merits the praise. The OSU defense was an abortion.

That's a painful reminder. No wonder Les fired his arse.

Just this year. In terms of best programs a coach would wanna take over, I'd rate us top 10.

(UT, tOSU, USC, Bama, UF, UGA, LSU,OU,Mich,ND)

something like that. UGA/UF/LSU all interchangeable in my eyes. We're at best #5, at worst #10. Of course, TAMU is working their way up and could easily be our equals along with UF and UGA.

They just lost 4 games w a once in a generation talent at qb. Lets see how sumlin builds the program before we even put them in florida or georgias neighborhood. I wouldnt say they r working their way up just yet

See recruiting classes being built under Sumlin. UT being down and OU kinda struggling to recruit elite TX talent really bodes well for TAMU's future. That, plus having the number 1 QB committed and the #1 player overall. I'd say their future looks extremely bright.

I get it, but if Cam and Les OK'd Mawae I'd be cool with it. If Mawae doesn't get the job maybe they felt he was too green as well

Who gives a shite about recruiting classes when taking a job...

But anyways they do not have the number 1 player overall.

Fournette is still number 1.
Garret is only 1 on 247. Not composite.

I haven't read every entry in this thread, so sorry if I'm beating a dead horse ...

Are we to believe that LSU offered the OL job to someone who might end up saying no? Isn't that weird, or is it par for the course in these kinds of searches?

Well, they have "arguably" the #1 player.

uhhhhhh...... just about fricking everybody. TAMU has more $ than LSU, UF, and UGA. They will have great facilities, a larger stadium, and a larger recruiting base. They're an up and coming job, but not quite equal to LSU, UF, and UGA. With the past 2-3 recruiting classes, they will be shortly.

Or maybe wasn't willing to give the time commitment LSU was looking for.

Dude is composite #10... Not that strong of an argument. This is a stupid argument so who cares. Was just pointing out the facts.

A&M has a lot of good things going for it now, but no they will not. This year is really the only great recruiting class. Last year was good and the rest was crap. Who knows how long Sumlin will stick around. Texas will start winning some of these battles, now that they got rid of the old man.

I stand by my statement, I seriously doubt any coach gives a damn about taking a job because a school had one great recruiting class.
