Thats not true he has been interviewed and is in the running, however Washington and Bostad are still the top targets and LSU is waiting on them before moving on. Both guys are in the running for NFL jobs as well.

So much for the 'homerun' - this hire is mediocre. He doesn't stay anywhere long and his best season of line production was the luck of a senior-laden group he mostly inherited. There is a reason Auburn fired him, as line production dropped off dramatically. Plus, he worked with Crowton... yeah, THAT Crowton. The risk / reward of giving a guy like Mawae a shot is a much better investment, as there is not much difference in potential downside.

Bostad would be the grand slam. Is there any interest from him, or is this just rantard speculation? I don't see this guy comming back to college for anything less than a coordinator position.

Here's a writeup from when he was hired by VT, seems like a great hire. It also states that at one point, Mack Brown offered to make him the highest paid OL coach if he came to UT a few years back.

So a longtime position coach has the same downside as a former player who has NO coaching experience?

Flawless logic

I loved the little bit about Crowton, too. Like none of the 1000000 coaches that have coached with him are worth a shite.
