He's wondering why everyone is so excited about this random stat that holds little to no importance in the game.

Shows how many balls were barreled up despite the 2-0 score.

You do realize the pitcher has something to do with exit speed right. Now if the guys were hitting it off a tee where there was some sort of constant variable then I may be intrested.

Its a better indicator of how LSUs offense performed than the result showed.

Of course, and so does the hitter.

Or how bad the opposing pitching was or wasn't.

random stat

No wonder LSU can't win baseball games. Our coaching staff spends time researching silly stats. Unless, and stay with me here, they actually find the stat revealing and indicative of something meaningful.

Only useless to the ignorant. Fwiw, this means exit speed off the lsu bats.
A couple of local high school teams do the same here in B R

They're not spending the time to track the stat for no reason. It is indicative of something, them at least.

Maybe wooden bats play a role

I wouldn't call it useless.
It shows that our hitters squared up on some balls and hit them hard, even if they for outs. If a guy is consistently hitting balls that hard for line drives, it shows he's squaring up the ball. Bregman has a TON of these loud outs such as this.

Sabermetrics are just a nerds way of injecting themselves into a place they don't belong! An athlete's performance is NON QUANTIFIABLE! It comes from the genes God gave him and the guts his daddy instilled in him! Get yer stupid numbers out of physical competition and tell us how to fix the economy instead.

Fraley also has a ton.

If college baseball had such a metric, I'm pretty sure Bregman is leading the country in line drives hit at the left fielder.

If we could have hit one 88mph we might have gone back in time to gorilla ball at the old box!

I think it shows that we hit the ball well just couldn't get the ball to fall when we needed to. Wouldn't be surprisrd if we score many runs tonight
