That's not what the concern is...they're horrible with RISP since Florida. It's inconsistency to hit when they're in scoring position. I would love to see the RISP since Florida I'll bet it's not good. We need to clean ourselves up right now. Not a good time for bats to get cold.

Positive is LSU stringed together hits last night when they needed to pull the win out but we need to get better.

Holy shite. You can't be serious, right? You do realize that hitting completely changes the direction the baseball.

No way, it does?

We've played two games since Florida. Two. And we scored 10 runs in one of them. Come on.

Don't doubt it. Between a couple of nice plays by the Hawks and several at'em balls I counted 8 screamers that were just loud outs. Just one of those nights. Most nights that would have been a 15 hit 8 or 9 run game and that came against their two best pitchers. These Tigers can flat out swing it.

Your sample size is 3 games. And hitting with RISP is a luck stat.

I don't know what the RISP was against Lehigh but I'm willing to bet it wasn't good in that game either. A lot of those runs seemed like they were off errors.

It doesn't matter. We've played 3 games and their RISP hitting has gone cold. Baseball can be streaky and you can get cold/hot that quickly.

Yes but you don't think it's a little concerning considering we're in the regionals right now?

No, like I said, its a luck based stat.

If half of those balls hit were low and away, and thus produced hard-hit foul balls, then the pitcher wins...and the stat is irrelevant.

I have never once heard anyone mention the exit speed on a foul ball. If Will Davis was actually referring to foul balls you might have a point, but again, I have never once heard someone talk about exit speed velocity on a foul ball. Pretty sure the OP was just saying we hit a fair number of balls hard last night, which exit speed is a good indicator of. Nothing more, nothing less.

Amazing that this retarded debate is still going on.

Do you know that there is little correlation between runs per game and average with RISP?

This is a bit misleading, as several of these were pop ups on bunts.

Update, per Will Davis, all hits were fair balls.

It's certainly not the most important stat in baseball, but they must be recording it to use for a reason.
If there are some guys that are in kind of a small slump, but maybe one or two of them are still hitting those hard line drives maybe you don't sub that guy out, or don't move him in the lineup.
Line drives will find a gap sooner or later if you keep hitting them.
Unless your name is Bregman. Poor guy seems to always hit it directly at outfielders.
Some guys seem unlucky. The year Rhymes had that huge average was kind of the opposite. He seemed to hit LOTS of seeing eye singles. Can't really move him in the lineup either as long as he's staying lucky though.
