Any other season ticket holders feeling the crunch!
Some have had enough and will be giving up their seats. Who can blame them what with the god awful OOC schedule, the parking and driving hassle and so many SEC games moved to afternoon. What this means is more corporate seats being sold with more newbie Cheesers that could care less about LSU football that will not make any noise and depart early which will in effect further degrade the already greatly diminished atmosphere in Tiger Stadium. Way to kill paradise Jeaux Bleaux!

The season tickets are what must be sold by LSU and bought by somebody to pay for this expansion and for you or anyone to get free ticket outside, don't you comprehend. Not all of us can continue to pay the increases like $3,000 for 2 tickets so this will eventually squeeze out the regular ticket buyers like myself, thus either empty seats or corporate fans! LSU will not sell these for $5 they will go empty before this. And I know this is not unique to us or that the increase is not needed to keep up with their costs, just saying the way it is headed in future!

"Perhaps the raise in ticket prices will encourage ticket holders to value the tickets and actually show up for games for more than a quarter."

I fear you will see the opposite effect. As ticket prices continue to climb, the intensity of one's fandom becomes less important, relatively speaking, that one's ability to pay. This doesn't mean that all wealthy folks are bad fans, just that many very committed, even rabid fans simply won't be able to afford the tix.

so, it goes, I guess, but I do wish they would postpone the price hike to a time when attendance is stronger. I know the tix are largely sold, but all of us who go to the games know that empty seats are surprisingly common in Tiger Stadium these days, even against SEC foes and even at night.

His point went totally above your head. These evil corporate seats that you speak of are being sold outside of Tiger Stadium before the game for cheap. These seats have already been purchased from LSU.

Politiceaux's point is that you can attend an LSU game on the cheap, you just don't have to buy season tickets. Question is, how much is it worth to you to be a season ticket holder?

We saw this coming for a while. They have to pay for the stadium expansion and coaching staff salaries somehow.

You think tickets/tradition fund is paying for expansion?

I did NOT say any corporate is evil for one thing! 2, someone had to buy these season tickets at the TAF price like I do now and regular folks like me will be squeezed out and either more wealthy or corporate entities will buy these or they will go unsold.
I know all to well you can get tickets free outside right now since I have eaten more then my share of them so I know you don't have to buy season tickets to attend the games, but that is what feeds the revenue source is the season ticket and if those go unsold it will be a problem!! That is my point about the expansion that concerns me about the future TS, hopefully we will continue our success to offset this from happening but every SEC school is in this position now!

For everyone bitching about higher prices, move to these seats.

JMO

Long time retired season ticket holders will eventually give their tickets up, young people who have no jobs will not be able to afford them.
The "big" games, Bama, A&M, Fla. Etc will be sold out, the useless games will not sell out, eventually Football will no longer be the huge revenue producer it has been for so long.
This will happen, the biggest reason is Every game is televised

Namvet, eventually, LSU's schedule will only consist of BCS Schools. When that happens, the attendance issue may resolve itself. Hopefully we see this within 5 years.

So do I, but i understand the reason people leave early is because of apathetic performances against shite teams.

Don't remember the game against UF being apathetic. It was clearing in a decently close game and it was a great weather day and the opponent (at the time) was considered good.

It's official, the board approved Alleva's plan today. 6% increase for football tickets.
