The board is scheduled to vote Friday on proposals from Alleva to make 150 different changes to prices for tickets and parking across university sports events. That includes a ticket price hike for the 2014 football season and for the 2015 baseball season.

The changes are estimated to raise about $2.3 million in the current budget year and grow to $4 million a year later. Alleva says his department needs the money to keep up with rising costs for salaries, benefits, travel and athlete scholarships.

His reasonings for the increases have no basis. The athletic dept has enough money, there would be no layoffs.

The SEC network share will more than make up for these increases.

Was about to post this, beat me; Will this increase initiate some seats turnover in the lower bowl area? I know it has priced me out of the market but have a deal to split the 14 season with some with folks arouind me. Could not do the entire season or would have to give them up! This will be about $2,900 for a pair in lower bowl between the GL's.
Any other season ticket holders feeling the crunch!

We saw this coming for a while. They have to pay for the stadium expansion and coaching staff salaries somehow.

Perhaps the raise in ticket prices will encourage ticket holders to value the tickets and actually show up for games for more than a quarter.

Yeah, but these increases will eventually price folks like me out and either just become more and more corporate or will just have a huge Cathedral of football with plenty of empty seats. I know they will always have some folks will scrimp and save to come up with it for a while until next increase; I can not do this now especially to see S H state, ULM, etc. at $207/seat that people are giving away before game time! Sad but true and guess is just the way of future!

You are correct. As long as people buy the seats, they will continue to go up in price. Its simple economics.

I'm afraid of this happening. What's the point of having 110,000 seats when the stadium is only 65% full because the tickets are too damn high? Dealing with a price hike plus the traffic woes are going to keep a lot of fans home.

All for it. People bitch about not spending enough on our football program then bitch when they raise prices.
